People are blaming the new cba for the lack of offers for these 4.
All 4 have questions marks, but all 4 also are being stern at their value being 25-30M per year.
Who deserves the near max deal?
I'm not sure I'd give that money to any of them. Giddey, maybe at 20M. Other 3 at MLE range.

None of them deserves the near max deal.
That said they need to remove the NTC from all contracts, but that's another topic.

No, they don’t. Nobody is forcing teams to do it.

Re: RFA's
The new CBA is causing NBA owners to tighten their wallets and I bet we are not going to see too many more rookie maxes except in cases that absolutely justify it like in OKC with Chet and J Williams.
It's already making the gap bigger between the lowest paid players and the max contract players as max contracts get ever larger as it's a percentage of the salary cap that is projected to increase year after year so the CBA has been pretty negative to most of the players in the league I would imagine.

None of these guys are eligible for one anyway, so the point is completely moot.

Re: RFA's
I think Giddey will get close to his requested $30mil, but I think it should be none of them. Giddey should get the most at about $15-20mil per year at the most and the others should be in the $8-13mil range.

The CBA has been a bonanza for every NBA player, as salaries are increasing at every level.garrick wrote:The new CBA is causing NBA owners to tighten their wallets and I bet we are not going to see too many more rookie maxes except in cases that absolutely justify it like in OKC with Chet and J Williams.

NBA owners are not tightening their wallets. Revenues are increasing and the owners, per the CBA, are spending 51% of those revenues on player salaries.
Changes to the CBA have caused teams to adjust their approach to salaries contracts and roster composition. Every CBA stipulation that is detrimental to one team or player is advantageous to another team or player. Every team and every player make choices that are in their best interest. Team owners and players have never had it so good.

Re: RFA's
I’d say all are getting QO unless Giddey caves and signs a reasonable deal. The rest aren’t that good and their teams know it.
Next year is a pretty bad FA class and none of these players are good consolation prizes for teams that miss their main targets unless you get em for sub MLE.
This is just the reality of the NBA now. Paying the middle class player above MLE is utterly foolish unless they’re the perfect fit around your core.
