How good would this team be today?

Starting 5:

PG: Oscar Robertson
SG: Jerry West
SF: Elgin Baylor
PF: Bill Russell
C: Wilt Chamberlain

Bench:

PG: Bob Cousey
SG: John Havlicek
SF: Rick Barry
PF: Willis Reed
C: Nate Thurmond

I basically chose the ALL NBA Team both starting 5 and bench. But I'm guessing the Skill gap is much too large from the 60s until now.

Dude.

Jerry West is a monster shooter and him/Wilt alone would dominate.

Baylor, Russell, Oscar? Come on now.

That's an obvious dynasty.

Are we assuming they have adapted to today's game? Or are they shooting no threes? If they shoot little to no threes then they get womped.

In their prime? I will go out of my way and say a team with Oscar, West and Wilt would be pretty good.

How much time do they get to practice shooting 3s and studying modern offenses and defenses? Who is their coach?

Getting rebounds against this team would be a nightmare.

That said, the lack of shooting would be a serious problem.

That's a lot of talent, talent alone would get them rolling through the regular season after adjusting, they should be able to learn enough in training camp, pre-season and first 20ish games.

Playoffs is always different because of course they would be game planned and some of the strategic and fit issues can be beat despite the talent discrepancy. You probably have too many stars and some guys won't be happy with certain roles they would be getting, so chemistry would be very volatile.

They should be a top seed, so they should beat their first round opponent, of course all this is without knowing who that would be. Second round would depend on opponent, and I think it would be tough to get past a conference finals just because game planning would hinder them as well as the ego's and team cohesion issues, but from a strictly talent standpoint, of course easy overwhelming favorites.

You give em about a half hour of watching YouTube clips of today’s NBA and I’m their coach.

I’d think we would do pretty well. 42-40 would by my guess. Not bad

Why would you be their coach?

If you take them in their prime, YouTube would be their first time seeing a 3 point line or the internet. Why would they only get 30 minutes?

They could also adapt I guess to being able to travel and carry the ball.

No one could score inside against them, only hope would be to bomb 3s. They'd cruise to a title.

Not to mention that’s a VERY athletic team. Easily the most athletic of all time.

This is a championship level team in any era of the NBA. In today's NBA, they'd struggle a bit with their backcourt adjusting to how many 3s get hoisted up. But good luck getting any rebound against this team. Stuff like this is what dreams are made of.

This is all hypothetical. In this scenario, I’m considered the best coach around.

Pregame Speech:

Coach: Remember team, it’s what’s on the front of the uniform that matters most

Team: *looks at Jerry West*

Coach: *sighs* I meant the team name, guys. Not the logo.

They would be very good. That’s what happens when you put a collection of some of the best players ever on a team. Think the only teams historically who would hang with them are the legends. 80’s Celtics and Lakers, 90’s Bulls, and the Warriors dynasty. Don’t see many of the one off NBA championship teams beating them.

Some of them are dead and the ones that are alive are way too old. They would not be very good at all.

Just like a

Paul / Nash
Kobe / Wade
Lebron / Durant
Nowitzki / Garnett
Howard / Duncan

would have done around 2009. Probably beat the Warriors' reg season record and win a championship. The team in the OP is probably the Dream Team of the '60-es. If they get time to adapt, they probably mop the floor w/ everyone who comes along.
