How would Dwyane Wade's game/style translate now?

Some rate him as high as top 5 SGs in their all time list.
Very underrated defender, one of the best slashers, high BBIQ superstar but not a good shooter/floor spacer for this current 3pt shooting era.
Would you take him over guys like
Ant Edwards
peak Klay Thompson
Luka
Booker
Where would you put him in your SG all time ranking?

Is take Wade over everyone listed except maybe Luka.

Give Wade those Minnesota teams and I think they’d already have a championship.

He’d do very well with all the spacing today. Prime Wade would be a top 5 player today.

He's better than Kobe and I would consider D-Wade the second best SG of all time. He had one of the best seasons a guard has ever had with his 2008-2009 season. You could make an argument that his 2008-2009 season was better than Lebron's that year if you wanted to.

He's the closest player to a 88-89 Jordan we ever seen whenever he got hot.

He's taller than we thought, 6'4.75 inches in shoes. Massive wingspan, great first step, great motor and court mapping.

If he wasn't a glass cannon, I think we would be talking about a GOAT level player instead of just being a GOAT level guard.

I don't think there's a guard that is better than Wade right now other than SGA.

Honestly I can't believe the question of peak Wade vs. the likes of Booker, prime Klay, and current Ant is even in question right now. Peak Wade is in serious contention for 2nd greatest SG peak ever lol. Luka vs. him is debatable but he's unequivocally better than any of those other guys.

Prime Wade would be the best SG in the league and a top 5 player, easily.

I think if his knees had held up about 2-3 more years so his prime extended out to like 2015 instead of 2012 with a few more solid years after that he'd be knocking on top 15(at best). He might have won another ring in 2014 with LeBron under that scenario as well.

He would probably be used as a point guard today and surrounded by 4 shooters.

Lol

Kobe finished top 5 in MVP voting 11 times.

Wade twice.

Just stop.

He would be a monster just like he was then. How many FT/game in this soft league?

like I said, Wade is an underrated defender with high BBIQ and a superb athlete but I also value shooting, as in True Shooting % which takes into account 2, 3pt % and FTs.
Wade has a career 55.4TS% in 16 years, also consider him starting at 22 years old, only shot above 58TS% 3 out of 16 year career, and that included him getting to the line a ton with a FT rate of 42.4%.
Klay actually is more of a shooter and barely gets to the FT line unlike Wade and he has a career 57TS%.
Booker always hit above 58TS% when he turned 22 years old.
I am not a fan of Ant Edwards but the kid barely turned 22 last year too.

Wade with more spacing would be scary with his slashing ability. The guy was unstoppable with far less spacing already.

On the negative side, the hate would be through the roof with the amount of foul calls he would get.

Wade would absolutely dominate and live in the paint with todays spacing. And if the defense tried to collapse on him (which they'd end up having to) he'd easily find open 3 point shooters galore.

Honest question, have you watched Wade as 3rd/4th year pro in depth? Not just a 10 min highlight package, actually watched full games?

We don't need to go into detail how fraudulent Kobe's awards were based on marketing himself as Jordan's heir and forcing himself to play like 96 Jordan without the shot IQ and people believed it.

Kobe ranked 4th in MVP voting, with 2 first place votes in the 2011-2012 season, a year where he had a 52.7 TS with 35.7 usage rate.

Kobe fans like to go off career accolades and not numbers because the numbers are bad even compared to guys like Wade who is in nobody's top 10.

Wade's 2008-2009 season is better than any Kobe season.

I think he would have an impact very similar to SGA, maybe a hair below.

I don’t think he would win MVP over Jokic/Giannis in a typical year, but he would be a top 3-6 guy in the tier right below.
