PT better ask why there would be mandating KL be a member of the Clips as part of his endorsement contract if there isn't funny businesses going on. Absolutely doesn't make sense putting that clause in otherwise.

I kinda feel like Cuban is being passive aggressive about taking shots at Ballmer. "He's too smart" is basically setting up saying how dumb he is if something actually comes of it. The interview should be entertaining.

He changed during his tenure as the Mavs owner and we have had some embarrassing internal accusations by some employees that have made the organization look incompetent. Not a fan of the guy anymore.

It's pretty cut and dry it was Cap Circumvention due to the Clippers clause in his contract.

That alone isn’t the problem apparently. The Clippers main sponsor wanting the Clippers best player to stay with the Clippers is fine and makes logical sense and reportedly is in other contracts. It is more that Balmer gave the sponsor money, Kawhi was vastly overpaid, the endorsement was never made public, and Kawhi was required to do nothing and did nothing for the overpayment.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

Really? The huckster blowhard who made his fortune selling his defective company to yahoo during the tech bubble and somehow only won one title with Dirk because of his lousy team management and even blew a signing in free agency because he was too busy with Shark Tank needs justification to be called a clown?
We're talking about the man who hired Nico Harrison here

Do we dare open up a Cuban-era Mavs investigation?

Because why would I endorse someone who's not apart of the organization/city of my choosing. That's an easy loophole to get around.

100%. I think people are really missing this point. Kawhi Leonard is getting paid $28 million just to ? No one knows he is affiliated with the sponsor. He does nothing for the sponsor. The sponsor never announces that Leonard is part of the organization. So why is the sponsor paying him? What is the sponsor paying him for?
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

It is all of these things together. Any one fact would not be enough to establish the cap circumvention. But the surrounding circumstantial evidence may be enough to prove it on a balance of probability (more likely than not).
I am curious what the legal onus is in the NBA's investigation. If it is based on a civil (balance of probability) or criminal (beyond a reasonable doubt).
Unless there is a damn good explanation for the contract, I would think the facts already exposed is enough to meet the civil standard.
Game, blouses.

Re: Pablo Torre interviews Mark Cuban
Ballmer knew exactly what he was doing and got away with it until a journalist actually did some digging. Something ESPN was apparently incapable of doing.
The reality is that no one's stupid enough to buy the "independent deal" excuse. Clippers fans might convince themselves of this, because their team is on the verge of being decimated (rightfully so), but those of us who are not in denial clearly recognize that the arrangement involved no actual work (promotion) from Leonard, and the payments were structured to rely solely on Leonard remaining with the Clippers.
Meaning Ballmer was paying him an additional $7M/year on top of the contract he signed to entice him to stay.

He was also a big reason why Luka was traded. He was trying to open a casino stadium in Dallas with the Adelsons for years before finally selling the team to them outright. He knew exactly the kind of dirtbags they were and he chose to do business with them.
