Which of the Nets' five 1st round picks will turn out to be the best?

The Nets had five first round picks in this last draft, and in a move that is pretty unusual for a team in that situation they kept all of them and signed all 5 players. So it seems like a good time with the season getting ready to start to pose the question of a team with so many rookies as to which one of them will be the best and maybe this thread will get necroed years later:

My flash takes on them

Demin: Very tall guard
Traore: Pure point guard from France
Powell: Combo guard
Saraf: Combo guard from Israel
Wolf: Full size center who is a well above average passer for a center

Also I wonder if there will be a rivalry between Ben Saraf and Danny Wolf because they were taken with consecutive picks by the same team, I'm sure Wolf would like to know why Saraf was picked first

Did you mean Drake Powell? Adou Thiero is not on the Nets.

Got to be careful sorting the draft lists because of draft night trades. Yes it's Drake Powell, so it's actually five first rounders. Fixed it. So that makes 4 guards they drafted in the first round. I already thought Danny Wolf myself, and that certainly doesn't change now that I know the other 4 are basically all competing against each other

I think Demin and Traore have star potential, but Traore is very raw and will either be a complete bust or homerun (very little chance of there being a middle ground with him).

Saraf and Wolf top out as role players to me. Powell is likely a role player as well but there's a pathway to being a viable starter.

Okay, fine, I will watch some Nets games. :D

I liked the Demin pick, he should see some big time run. Inconclusive for me before the season starts. I didn't see their 2 games in CN (DNP-sleep), and they played a non-NBA team for their 3rd game.

Demin and Traore will be starters in this league. If their jumpers become NBA consistent (need a qualifier), then they have all-star potential.

By best career you mean someone who is in the league for 10-12yrs. Make around 100m in career earnings despite being a bench player and never sniffing all star selection?

Or like a flame who burns for 5-7years, play as a starter on some teams before crashing out and taking talents outside the league while making 80-100m

Drake Powell will probably end up being a 14ppg scorer and the best even with the lower ceiling

Wolf will be a career journeyman since he has size on that low contract type of player you see on rosters each year

Egor will end up in Killian Hayes territory.

Saraf might surprise. He is unique.

Traore will play out his rookie contract and probably get a good offer to go overseas. Will have horrible TS in NBA

Do not quote me as I don't want to argue about this as I am going to say I just know how this will work out.

WTF were the Nets thinking?

Danny Wolf is going to be a homeless man's Jokic. Not an all-star at all, but a serviceable big, who might blossom in a right environment.
The other 4 players - I doubt more than 2 of them will have a second NBA contract for above a minimum.

If a team used their first and second round picks on consecutive years nobody would bat an eye.

The Nets have been devoid of picks for so long, and without any real quality prospects to develop, so it's really not that absurd that they added 5 prospects.

They're restocking the cupboard, which quite frankly was completely empty...

Yeah but they restocked it with chef boyardee raviolis.

There was one preseason game where Wolf played mostly in the 4th quarter and in the short time he played, they kinda played through him in the point Center role

In those mins, i was shocked by how much better their spacing was, compared to the rest of that game. Just night and day in terms of spacing

He'll certainly never be a star and he's got alot of work to do, on his shot, finishing around the rim and his handle needs to get alot tighter for him to be able to play that role in the NBA, but he does have that unique "connector" quality, which is pretty rare.

In typical nets fashion they’ll squander away the entire opportunity. I’ll reluctantly give it a chance.

I really liked Demin going into the draft but feel like the Nets are not the right fit for him at this stage of his career.

I´m totally ambivalent to the other four. Can´t really see any of them getting a decent second contract.

I like that they used all 5 picks. So tired of teams shipping out theirs. At least 2 or 3 of them won't be worth extendeding past their rookie contract, and it still keeps them bad enough for another good pick, so I don't see a problem with their strategy.

Was there any of those picks that were not considered reachs? I think Wolf wasnt, but at 27 he is a good pick, good handles, size, playmaking, needs to get more athletic though...

getting 2 guards in a row, 3 total that cant shoot is weird too... Kasparas was there.

Hope to see them get 2 decent rotational players out of those at least. I miss those days of crafty floor generals, Rubio like, even if he never reached his potencial, it was nice to watch

Saraf is a baller. he'll take time to adjust to the NBA game but he'll def get a decent second contract. as role player most likely not as a star, but still as a good complimentary player to have. someone (can't remember who) compared him to a young Dragic, I think that's a really good comp

Saraf has the I.Q and the composure, he dominated in European competition for youngsters a couple of years ago and played a key role for an overachieving team last season in Germany, playing against grown men as a teenager

I think he's def going to carve himself a nice career and role albeit, not a star by any means but still a good, usefull player

My opinion:

Traore will be good distributor and defender who will struggle with scoring in the NBA
Demin and Saraf will both be combo guards that can be brought off the bench to play at a high level as a sixth man or as a starter in the right situation
Wolf will be a borderline starter / high-level backup who will stick in the league for a long time, barring injury.
I don't know enough about Powell to make an informed decision.

The weird part was taking so many guys with a questionable shot. There’s a lot of talent there, but the fit between them seems pretty awful.
