It doesn't sound like he's going to make any real decisions for the Sixers as far as the roster or daily operations of the team.

Sixers Won't Change Basketball Operations Following Bob Myers Hire For HBSE

Bob Myers is exiting his role as a basketball analyst for ESPN to become president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. Myers was already working as a consultant to Josh Harris and helped assemble the leadership team of the Washington Commanders.

HBSE's portfolio includes the Philadelphia 76ers, the Commanders, the New Jersey Devils, as well as Crystal Palace of the English Premier League.

The exiting structures of the HBSE teams will continue to operate in their current form. Daryl Morey has run the Sixers since 2020.

Myers will remain based in California, but will travel regularly to HBSE/Commanders properties and events.

"Our goal has been to hire, grow, and retain the best and brightest executives in the world and we are a stronger, more dynamic organization with the addition of Bob Myers," Harris and David Blitzer said. "His experience as an architect of championship teams will complement our existing leadership structure, while also allowing HBSE to maximize opportunities across our portfolio. We're excited to have Bob continue his storied career here at HBSE."

HBSE owns the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers, the NHL's New Jersey Devils, Crystal Palace of the EPL, as well as an investment in Joe Gibbs Racing. Myers will also continue in his role as advisor to the Washington Commanders, who are owned by Josh Harris.

None of the current HBSE sports leadership teams will see their reporting structures changed. Those groups' front offices will continue to report to their respective ownership groups.

No. Morey still reports to Harris and company according to the ESPN article. Guessing he's part of "and company" now which probably means very little.

Just glad he is off my TV screen. I just don't think he is good on TV, not a good analyst, not a good commentator either.

Better question: Does Bob Myers have the best agent/representation in pro sports?

Well I mean, he was an agent. That was literally how he achieved the success he did that led to him getting hired as GM of the Warriors.

Not trying to celebrate the Sixers recent FO, but they've made no major moves that the big majority of people didn't think were good ideas/strategies at the time. PG was really healthy two years ago and he was not healthy this year, Embiid is a great player who can't elevate himself in the biggest games, Harden was a great get for Simmons but wasn't the right solution for the team, etc. It'd be one thing if the Sixers weren't getting FAs to sign, or weren't swinging big trades or whatever, but in this case they've just been making decent bets and losing them. I'd be fine if Morey was gone at this point but I don't anyone thinks that he was the problem that someone like Myers would fix.

Yeah, he was an agent for 14 years before the Warriors. I'm guessing he's his own agent.

Agreed. I love Bob, but I couldn't stand him as a commentator. He's good on a podcast telling stories about the Warrior's dynasty and I thank him as the GM of 4 titles... but I'm glad he is not going to be on TV anymore :)

is this like the guggenheim group who owns the dodgers and lakers wherein they rebuilt the dodger infrastructure?

myers knows what it takes to build an org but we can only surmise how much power myers will have

This sounds like when the Milwaukee Bucks hired Doc Rivers to consult about why the Bucks were underachieving under coach Adrian Griffin ...

If I'm Darryl Morey and Elton Brand, I feel like my seat just got a lot hotter
