Wemby looks like a combination of Hakeem KD and Giannis

Fox is an all star caliber PG

Harper and Kornet is a really solid bench

Yeah, it's too early. I think Spurs are closer to making a push than most realize if 1) Wemby is 100% 2) They actually want to, and I'm not sure they do
1 is self explanatory, as for 2, it means Spurs need to go find those playoff quality shooting wings and forwards they're missing (those cost), team needs time to gel, and a number of talented young players need time to grow into their best versions (Harper, Castle, Carter Bryant, etc). Also, the head coach is an open question mark, we'll see how he fares before we declare Mitch Johnson a championship caliber coach.

In short, Spurs have more pieces in place already than most will give them credit for, and I don't think a 6th seed is out of the question if it all breaks right, but winning the title takes a whole lot more and they're not yet ready for that this season. '27 or '28 might be a different story though.

They won't make the playoffs.

It’s possible. Wemby is that good. I’d feel much better about their chances to contend if they upgraded their forward rotation this offseason and say got a guy like John Collins. Barnes and Keldon Johnson are just extremely mediocre players especially defensively and hard to see them being rotation guys on a contender. Barnes maybe as an 8th man but Johnson & also Vassell just don’t seem like winning players to me.

Jeremy Sochan is key though. If he takes a leap - improves his shooting, ball handling skills he could be the ideal 4 man next to Wemby. His rebounding is surely needed at forward spot.

It should be illegal to make a poll where the question has the opposite meaning as the thread title.

So this is just seeing who falls for the poll question switch from the title right?

More likely to play in, than to win the ring.

Barnes and Vassell are the only two guys shooting above the league average from 3 (36%).
In contrast to OKC where only Cason Wallace(35.6) and Caruso(35.3) are shooting below the league average

Teams with as little winning experience as these Spurs don't make title runs. Gotta learn to walk before you can run.

The goal should be to make the playoffs this season and have a decent showing before they are likely eliminated in the first round.

Can they? I mean, sure it's remotely possible if other teams get injured and the playoff seedings break their way.

Will they? No way I'd bet any money on it.

As a rockets fan, it pains me to say they are far better than they’re projected to be by most outlets.

The average fan doesn’t understand on-court holistic two way impact on the final score. Wemby will have the same impact as an MVP this coming season and he’s not in his prime. Possibly the highest recorded defensive impact of anyone ever in addition to 25 efficient ppg and 10+ rebounds OBJECTIVELY results in an MVP season.

Imagine that roster with Jokic starting at C. I don’t think it’s good enough for a title, but they have an outside shot at conference finals.

Take the over. Don’t be the “who would’ve thought” guy. The evidence is crystal clear right now.

Might be a tad too early, they haven't taken their playoffs lumps yet.

Yes extremely early. Maybe wait till Victor strings some injury free seasons together before having title aspirations.

100%

Wemby is ready to lead a team to the Finals but I don't think the rest of the team is. They got lots of potential but as of right now it is unproven.

It isn't out of the realm of possibility though for Wemby to make a 3rd year leap and turn into prime Jokic (in terms of impact not play style) and drag them deep into the play offs.

Wemby didn’t even make it through the regular season last year. How can we have confidence that he’ll make it through 4 rounds of the playoffs?
