I sure am ! Brings back so my happy memories from my first years as an NBA Fan (1992 onwards)

Excited to learn the Celtics have several NBC National games this season.

Shame they don't have the rights to the finals but still...

Looking foward to Carmelo Anythony, Grant Hill and yes Reggie Miller on their coverage.

TNT got really stale, annoying and self-indulgent in the last couple of years.(No more Shaq, Chuck Kenny can only be a good thing)

I will never tune in or not tune into a game based on intro music.

I only dislike the music because it was used to push the narrative of the Knicks Lakers and Bulls way too much. That music wasn't playing nationally for a small market team. Glad it can be revamped for a new audience under different circumstances now. Should be fun now.

I agree Inside the NBA has gotten stale.

No, intro music will not make me watch an entire basketball game I wouldn't otherwise wouldn't watch.

I know the premise feels insane, but let me try to explain....

There was a certain magic to basketball in the 90s.
The kind that lived in living rooms, not highlight reels.
The kind that flickered through a boxy TV, humming with static and anticipation.

Back then, you didn’t have League Pass, streaming, or endless Twitter takes.
You had patience.
You had imagination.
You had the faint glow of a Saturday afternoon and the hope that your team might be on national TV.

You learned about other players through whispers, through box scores buried in the sports section, through NBA Jam—where half the legends were made of pixels and myth.
You didn’t know everything, and that made it feel bigger.

Then came Sunday on NBC.
The music hit—John Tesh’s anthem thundering through the room like the opening scene of a movie.
Marv Albert’s voice. Kevin Harlan’s call. The slow-motion cuts of Jordan, Olajuwon, Kemp, Payton.
It wasn’t just a broadcast.
It was an event.
The storytelling, the drama, the sheer electricity—it made basketball feel sacred.

The music was it, the moment, it encapsulated everything

So yeah, seeing my Rockets open the season on the new platform?
That’s not just excitement.
That’s nostalgia colliding with the present.
For those of us who grew up chasing that NBC magic, it feels like the lights just came back on.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I have come to loathe inside the NBA and ESPNs coverage. Shaq, Perkins, Nichols, ugh. Half the time they seem like they don't even want to be there.

I mean, look at this, LOOK AT IT:

Fun Fact, Jordan had 24 free throws in that game.

No. I just watch on League Pass a couple hours after the game is over, so I can skip all the downtime and BS.

If there was some way for us to listen to the music whenever we want, we wouldn't have to make this decision.

Is there an adult in that room to make this work? That sounds like a disaster. Man...you just made me lose all hope for NBC :(

Just amazing...that much air time and not a single complaint about how the game isn't what it used to be!

No, I'm not watching a basketball game for intro music. Nostalgia isn't anywhere near as strong for me as some people.

Until I get a quadruple game header. I will not be impressed.

Who am I kidding… I can’t sit and watch that much basketball as an adult now.

I actually preferred the CBS intro in the 1980s: great drama and emotion!

Nah. I've heard it enough times that my brain can play it back note for note. Damn that John Tesh.

Haven't been interested ever since they removed the original lyrics.

Tiny hammer night at stadiums used to be incendiary.

You can literally listen to the NBA on NBC song anytime you want on Youtube, seems like a weird justification to watch an entire sports broadcast for that reason.

It's an AMAZING thing to have at the gym on the tredmill though! God I love having something to watch. And I always up my cardio during basketball season anyway because it's cold out and I need to make myself move or I'm just sitting around.

But if you hear that intro...are you changing the channel!

Who am I kidding...it's all online anyway. But if you still used a remote control on a tv. I know I'd be less likely to surf.
