Last season Braun actually had a slightly higher TS with Jokic off the court.
Jokic off: 579 min .6777 TS
Jokic on: 2057 min .6611 TS

It's usually more than a .1 difference in TS (in the other direction) for most of their players.

Plus Defender that averages 15+ ppg on 66.5 TS% and doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective, what's that worth on the open market?

He had super low USG last season. If he can bump that up to 20% without the efficiency falling off a cliff, this deal probably will look like a massive bargain.

He is a Jokic merchant, but this team is build around Jokic so they need Jokic merchant like him who can play defense, glad they got him locked up on a fair deal.

Every decent player on a good team is a merchant of the best player on the team. It's what being a role player is.

Different players. Giddey is a playmaker that needs to be surround by shooters/finishers and defenders. Braun is a defensive minded role player. Camara or Murray is the better comparison in my opinion who also got extended this summer.

Watching Jokic feed him in the open court is cinema. He’s become a real good tough shot maker at the rim too.
