To be fair to the OP, there is indeed a long tradition of Pacers SGs winning that particular award. Danny Granger, Paul George and Victor Oladipo have all won it in the past and overall, Indiana along with Orlando have won the most MIPs with 5 each.

He has a pretty decent chance. With Haliburton out and getting a bigger role. MIP is usually about (PPG this year - PPG last year). If Mathurin can average 24 points or something like that, he'll be on a lot of ballots.

You're going to get hit for overreacting to one game but this was building in the preseason. Mathurin is turning the corner at the perfect time, when a huge chunk of usage becomes available on the team. Plus he's starting from a lower point than Amen Thompson, so his net can be larger even if he's not quite as good absolutely as Amen -- which itself remains to be seen.

Dude draws FT's at an elite rate and isn't even a star. Pacers have their poor mans Shai.

If we're basing this off of one game then clearly that award belongs to Walker Kessler who is revolutionizing the game with his stifling defense, visionary playmaking, and stellar shooting (eFG% and TS% both over 1). He will never miss another shot from the field or the arc.

The Guy Who Got a Bigger Role and More Minutes Cause Someone Else Got Injured or Moved, But is Basically Still the Same Player Award.

I've said this before - he's not as explosive as DWade, but he definitely has some DWade in him. He could become a star.

Yeah Victor was already an all star last year, he can't realistically win MIP, that's usually an award for non-all stars or first timers.

It was the same with Steph when he went from being an all star to being the unanimous MVP. Fans also felt as though he had a case, but those kind of players are rarely considered for the award.
