What Is Your Most Unreal Moment As An NBA Fan?

I bring this up because I watched the Warriors/Denver game last night.

I remember in the late 90's when Dell Curry played for the Raptors I went to a game with my friends. This little kid comes on the court and starts nailing NBA 3's from all over. Turns out it was Steph, and he was like 11 years old that time.He was not big at all, and I was surprised he was even hitting rim, let along swishing them. After seeing the look on my face, my friend turned to me and said, "That's Dell Currys' son, he's pretty good isn't he?" Um, yeah  .

Looking back, little did I know I was watching the greatest shooter of all time, working on his craft as a preteen.

Waking up, grabbing my laptop, and seeing a 75-page thread that Luka was traded to the Lakers.

Hmm.

In the '94-'95 season I was in middle school and went to a party at a hotel. The Jazz were there, and I saw Stockton, Hornacek, Carr, Crotty, Keefe, and Chambers over the course of a few hours. I never set foot in the room where the party was. I rode the elevator with a comically intimidating (in a trenchcoat and shades) Antoine Carr, chatted with John Crotty (current Heat announcer) for like 15 minutes while he rode the exercise bike [the room was tiny, and we were like two feet away from him by necessity], and got angrily cursed out by Tom Chambers for playing with a beach ball in the hallway on his floor.

HM to experiencing Linsanity while living in Taiwan. Linsanity was absolutely bonkers when you really break it down.

Maybe I forgot something, but that's the best I got now.

Having insomnia and walking across the street to have a pancake and coffee at midnight and sitting across the aisle from Emeka Okafor and his buddy the summer he was drafted #2 also comes to mind. We were like the only three people in the restaurant. It was funny, because his buddy was a little Asian guy who was ragging on him, like, "Dude, you need to work on your left hand," and Okafor was all defensive, like, "I am, dude!" Okafor was a pretty big guy, and their entire table was covered with plates. It was enough food for at least four regular people.

Hmmm. That's my top three. Maybe I forgot something.

Some more HM's:

MJ layup in Game 2 of the 1991 Finals.

Chris Paul literally winning a game by pointing out an untucked jersey.

1. MJ's 1st retirement. Seemed very off and unreal to turn on the tv and see the press conference where he was talking about retiring at 30.
2. 2016 title
3. Seeing MJ hit the shot over Ehlo in person. I honestly thought there was no way in hell he got it off in time. Going into that series we were hugely favored and went up 2-0.
4. Magic's retirement. That happened really quick too. It's like one minute he has hiv and the next moment he's retired.
5. Luka trade. Just because it was so weird and seemed to come out of nowhere.

The time Isaiah Rider got a 2nd technical foul after arguing a call with a ref in a Minnesota Twolves home game vs Utah leading to a ejection.

Instead of leaving, he refused despite being restrained by several teammates.

Suddenly out of nowhere Rider's mom charged out the stands to center court to get in his face to leave and started yelling at him profusely which was the only way he calmed down and exited.

I laughed my ass off seeing that on CNN lol.

Me and my buddy got into a drunken frat party brawl vs Sean Marks at Cal. We joke about it now and then :D

Pretty intense but nobody hurt or anything.

1. Jordan's last shot. I was a Jordan hater till that moment, and I assumed that that series would be the last one for Jordan. Even as a Jordan hater, I thought it would be a dream-like scenario if he somehow scored the last shot to win the game. The Bulls were down by 3, Jordan hit the jumper, Jordan stole one from Malone, and hit the last jumper to win the game.

2. Curry's 37fter vs OKC in 2016. Probably the best regular game I've ever seen. Really didn't see that one coming at that moment.

3. Luka trade. I don't know if it's a 'moment', because I thought it was yet another bad trading rumor. Took a while to understand that it was actually real.

My wife and I were at the dealership trying to buy a minivan when we noticed that not a single salesman approached us like they usually do. Everyone's gathered up in front of the TV at the lobby and screaming loudly. We just ignored it and proceed to finalize the purchase. We get home with the new car and found out that Kobe had scored 81 pts. The ONLY time I didn't watch a Laker game and it happened. lol

That Kevin Durant was in bounds on that baseline play.

Playing on the Cavaliers court 2 hours before the Lakers and LeBron played against the Cavaliers. Probably the coolest day of my life. Tried to soak it in as much as possible

I'd say the day I met Jarrett Jack, Alonzo Gee, Corie Blount, Tyler Zeller, Dion Waiters, Sergey Karasev, Ruben Patterson, and CJ Miles.

A bunch of "nobodies" but they were all cool to me, got some autographs and 1 picture.

Linsanity. That was a magical time in New York.

Also Carl2680 sharing about Jason Kidd's end as coach of the New Jersey Nets...crazy stuff. Think CBS was the only one who gave him credit: https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/how-a-realgm-poster-broke-the-jason-kidd-story-before-anyone-else/

1988, chatting with Jerry Sloan (and a mailman who shall not be named) at a Sizzler in St. George, Utah where they were having a team meal prior to a preseason game vs the Pacers. (Stockton was aloof and couldn't be bothered.) The team, me, and my parents were about the only ones in the restaurant. Scored tickets to the game, wore my brand new Lakers Back-to-Back championship t-shirt to it. (BIG Lakers fan back then.)

I was there live. Had season tickets (while I was in college) and was front row of the 200 level seats. It was unreal. My best friend next to me had a brand new leather jacket that some jack hole from the nosebleeds threw a full cup of soda and nailed him right in the back. One of the unreal experiences to see it live and in person.

Magic's retirement is a top one, for sure.

Definitely one of the "do you remember where you were when..." moments of my life.
