They've been bad for several years and it's still not clear if they really have anyone who can be a core piece of a good team. That's mostly been bad lotto luck (the one year they did move up didn't have anyone obvious to take) but it overall feels pretty weak.

I think they're beginning to realize that Coulibaly doesn't have much offensive talent. However, if George and Tre Johnson continue to look like NBA scorers, they may have something though. I still feel they need to put more emphasis moving forward on the frontcourt. Sarr isn't enough.

Seems like they've been rebuilding for decades.

It’s still kind of a mess without much vision as far as I can see.

Also side note, what the hell has happened to McCollum? Why’s he’s taking like 7 shots for them a game?

I doubt tickets to attend games will outprice parking at the arena anytime soon.

You think so? I assumed the Wizard had plenty of time with the two of them. Kuzma has always been a liability to me.

It’s clear that Kyshawn is a core piece.

Maybe it’s not clear to those who don’t watch the Wizards but even last year he was quietly having an excellent rookie season.

Since the 70s

They're 1-1, and their offense has been a disaster on par with the last 2 years. They are going to suck again this year, most likely, and haven't won more than 35 games since 2018. They've been north of .500 4 times since 2008. The last time they won 50 games was 1979. Over that same span, they've been under 30 wins in 16 different seasons.

The rebuild is not going well.

Team culture is a very important factor.
The Lakers team on the Covid era and the Warriors under Kerr had(the Warriors still do) a foundation that could held every player accountable.

If you had Poole on the Warriors this season for example, you would have seen a very good player.
Kuzma is on a supplementary role on the Bucks this season. I think he will be very good on that role.

Neither Poole nor Kuzma are players who can lead and mentor young teams like the Wizards(or the X rebuilding team).

Executives should be able to recognize what the X player can provide.

"Great" is a hearty exaggeration. Kuzma was a 61-game, 25 mpg player who started 9 games and shot 31.6% from 3 during the 2020 RS. He then started no games in the postseason and scored 10 ppg while shooting 31.3% from 3 during the playoffs. He, as he has subsequently done, actually sucked.

Poole was pretty good for the 2022 Warriors, and then better in the postseason... but he's also a moron, and hasn't been able to recapture anything like that level of success since.

They're collecting some nice young talent but it's hard to see them really get out of the cellar and vault into playoff contention until they either draft or trade for a true #1 option. Hopefully for them they might have that chance in next year's draft with guys like Dybantsa at the top.

I actually agree mostly. I think I worded the original post poorly.

I think Poole is ok in a certain role, just not on a team where he’s given the total green light to chuck shots all day.

Kuzma is just not good. Personally I was never a big fan of his game but it’s borderline unplayable right now

As a Bullets fan from the 70s who hasn't had a favorite team in a long time, I might get back on board. At least they are trying something.
