It's beyond silly to be asking this less than a week into the season. What other records are in jeopardy based on less than a handful of games?

More players watch tape on him his blocks per game will go down because people learn. I think he has a legit chance to have the most blocks per game in a season since the 80s but no chance of averaging 6+ per game other teams just aren't that stupid to keep going at him like that.

I doubt it. Eaton's record is like 5.5. It's a different game now, lots more 3's

He avg'ed 3.8 last season and he's now taller, stronger and better si i expect something like 4.5, 6 bpg is just not feasible and 5.5...who knows, maybe in his prime but pretty unlikely.

This type of thread needs a poll, but yes it's possible.

There would have been a player to average more than 6 blocks per game if the stat had been kept prior to the 1973-1974 season.

I think Wemby will have a great year, but I don't think he'll sustain this over the entire season though.

Definitely possible.

I think guys will eventually adjust though and deflate his block stats somewhat, but he's always going to be a monster so it's in play.

I've missed my chance to post a thread asking if PPG record is in jeopardy based on Gordon 50 piece against Warriors - I'll get on the fun train early next season, live and learn.

It's just too bad the NBA didn't keep track of blocks in Wilt's career.

Based on the first week, Walker Kessler will never miss another shot from the field or the arc and will finish with the all time record for eFG% and TS%, over 1.000.

Players gotta stop challenging him. They will eventually stop driving to the basket with Wemby lurking. This man is single handedly changing the game.

It'd definitely in play and will be every year of Wemby's prime. Though tbh it's kind of a fake record since most know that Russell or Wilt likely had tons of seasons over 6bpg. Maybe as high as 8-9. If Victor starts playing 34-35mpg it also makes it easier to happen.

Only injuries will stop Wemby from breaking all kinds of records. *knock on wood

It's unlikely. It's incredibly difficult to block that many shots in a league with so many 3 points attempts. Players will stop challenging him at the basket and Wemby might become more cautious to avoid foul trouble.

But I do think he'll break Manute Bol"s block % record. He was pretty close last year.

Yup, people are saying he's more like 7'6" or 7'7" now than the 7'5" he's listed at, or the 7'3" he was as a draft prospect.

I want him to stop growing honestly for durability reasons.

3-game projections are always a little bonkers.

Unlikely in the extreme that he'll average 6 based on the way the league works and his MPG and such, but not technically impossible. I'd bet closer to 4, 4.5. He's had 3, 9 and 6 blocks. I don't think he's going to keep smashing 9+ enough for him to average 6 this year. But he's an absolute demon and is a real threat to post the highest BPG we've seen since Eaton, though.
