Post#1 » by ScrantonBulls » Tue Oct 28, 2025 5:01 pm

3-0. Defeated solid playoff teams like the Magic, Pistons, Hawks. Playing great defense. It's one of those teams with a lot of decent/good players. Last night again the Hawks they had 8 players score in double figures. This is all without Coby White - who may make a big leap this year and be a star.

I don't want to speak too soon. But it looks like the Bulls very well may be back.

Might be a tad bit too early to call it.

Are they back to what exactly lol? MJ's Bulls? D'Rose's Bulls? You gotta be more specific.

Always good to be 3-0 but early season is quirky. We'll see, but at least they have hope

3 games in, this is about as much of a conventional overreaction thread as anything. 3 games means absolutely nothing. Especially against a bunch of sub-50-win teams. Far from bad teams, of course, and on the rise, but still.

Let them face more interesting competition over a larger sample before we start talk of them being "back."

Magic and Pistons were young playoff teams with big potential last year. These are teams with 50 win potential. Hawks also added Porzingis. They're all playoff teams.

I'm not saying the Bulls are contenders. But they may be contenders for the 4 seed.

Sure, that's why I added the caveat that they were both still good and are rising teams. But no one is really mistaking them for dominant competition, enough to project much at the moment at this stage of the season.

I'm not saying the Bulls are contenders. But they may be contenders for the 4 seed.

We'll see what happens. Philly's 3-0 as well right now, and without Embiid. No one sane is really projecting much from them. There are a bunch of good teams which are 2-1 or something similar. As ever, it's just too early to say anything intelligent.

They're 21st-ranked on offense, and 3rd on D. Their net rating is +6.7, which 100% will not last. That would have been 4th in the league last year, and good for 49+ wins. They're a -8.8 defense right now. They are not one of the greatest defenses in league history. They were a +1.1 defense last year. That's closer to where they will likely be on the balance of this season, in all honesty, though they will probably be a little better than that this year.

Things to think about. It's too early. It's too early. It's too early. The way they are winning is going to change a lot because it's heavily rooted in playing a level of defense which they 100%, absolutely, positively, unequivocally cannot maintain.

So we'll have to see who they really are at either end before anything substantive can be said about this team and its potential this season.

If they played Atlanta 10 times, maybe so.

They're definitely interesting, and those three wins were pretty big considering they were against teams in the East and in their strata. I think this roster is well put together and Billy Donovan seems like he knows how to use them. I think they would be a lot more difficult to deal with if they had a defensive center on the roster.

Magic still can't shoot to save their lives and Mosley is still their coach.

Pistons lost 3 of their top 6 players in playoff minutes this summer, Ivey is still not healthy, and jb is still their coach.

Hawks were not a playoff team last season but are trying to work in 4 new free agents as well as JJ back from injury.

Even if they're not BACK, its a good idea to celebrate them being BACK now in case they're not BACK later.
Its a win-win situation at this point.

Are the Bulls back?

Post#15 » by tcheco » Tue Oct 28, 2025 6:01 pm

We all love some hot takes, 3 games in, Bulls are 3-0 playing as a team. I was reading this post in https://www.sbnation.com/nba/1087446/are-the-undefeated-chicago-bulls-for-real and they focus a lot on how the team is playing 10 deep(even missing White and Collins) and running all the time, pressing for transition offense even when getting scored on, playing 5 out regarless of the team in court and share the ball more than any other team.

They lead the league in drives and in number of pass out of drives(second in % behind warriors), least isolations in the league, no player in the top35 in usage numbers... everyone seems to be thriving with this way of playing right now, and sure, it's 3 games, but it made me think, can a team be assembled to win it all playing this way?

Can you put up a 10 deep team of non isolation players and get the wins necessary to go far? Have we seen a team this "selfless" before? I hope Bulls keep their way of playing, they aren't the deepest team an still are choosing to play sometimes 11 players and getting wins out of it, beating 3 teams that should have been better than them.

In a league where star power has been the norm recently, is good to see team ball being played, I hope Bulls can keep this mommentum and improve pieces that fit in this style of play.

Good for Giddey too, traded away for Caruso and people crapping on him, he managed to be a vital part of this team style of play, and surprisingly, Tre Jones, a throw in traded to Bulls helping the team in half court offense. Their pairing has been quite complimentary.

Too early to say, obviously, but this pessimistic Bulls fan is cautiously optimistic. We've won 18 of our last 25 games dating back to last season and have brought back basically the same team. We theoretically have another gear to play when White and Collins return.

The vibe in the locker room feels different, IMO and that also seems to be translating on the court which is something that the players have mentioned::
