Wemby is the best…

Post#1 » by SNPA » Tue Oct 28, 2025 7:26 pm

…player to ever step on a basketball court.

I’m not looking for a GOAT argument. This isn’t about accolades. This isn’t about prime or peak. This is about pinnacle, the absolute top independent of time spent there.

The statement stands alone.

Wemby is the best player to ever step on a basketball court.

And….

….IMHO its not very close.

I’m shocked to see people still talking about him moving into the current top five, etc. No, no no. He is way better than that.

What we are witnessing has no context.

In an all time draft for a single game he gets picked first.

Disagree for obvious reasons. He has won a ROY and so far that is it. Oh, and four regular season games this year.

I wonder what people would say if Wilt Chamberlain had stepped foot on a basketball court for the first time in 2025.

Didn’t read the OP? It’s not about longitudinal anything. It’s not about accolades.

No, as of today. October 28th, 2025, Wemby is not the greatest player to ever step on a basketball court.

I mean, obviously, right?

This thread is dumb and OP is just going to argue his premise over everything else. Yawn. NEXT

Dude. You can go to a different thread if you don’t like the premise of this one. Your two post are off topic.

I think Tom Brady stepped on basketball court once. I would take him over Wemby. You never said best basketball player, just best player who stepped on a basketball court. I think I would take Phelps as well, I believe he stepped on the basketball arena during the olympics a handful of times.

same with Messi, Pele, etc.

Yup. Wilt was doing all of this + more in his era (minus the handles since moves Wemby does didn't exist yet). Russ came in and made the Celtics what they are today. Shaq came in an played prime Hakeem as an equal. Duncan dominated the finals and won a chip his 2nd yr. Bron went to the finals almost singlehandedly early. Hell, even Yao, by his 3rd year, was carrying the Rockets defensively while dominating on offense (yes obviously help from Tmac or Franchise too depending on the year).

You are too early on this my dude.

There is no prize for being the first to say he's the best ever.

Don't know why people are rushing to say this.

Anyway he has a higher ceiling than MJ and LeBron. He’s already a much better defender than those guys can ever dream of. Plus his offense is crazy too.

if not accolades, then what is "best" based on? skills? plenty of players even now with better skills. he's the most physically imposing, most athletic based on the 'athleticism based on height' scale. beyond that wth is 'best'?

Haha. I said he would be at the start of his rookie year. I’ve watched him recently and think he is now there.

You’d trade Wemby of today for any one of them for a single game all-time draft?

The problem with the whole over hype is that this kind of threads will eventually create hatred for the kid.
Leave aside the fact that it's way too early.
The kid must be protected by his fans first and foremost. Everything else will come in time. But the fans must hold their horses a bit. I've read enough crazy things in the last few days. Take it easy guys.

So you made a prediction and are willing it to be true extremely early. I'd say that's a strong bias.

Until a player has been able to be the best in the league for multiple years you can't claim this. Every other best player had to go through teams building their roster and strategy to defend them or score on them.

Until that happens, you won't know how great Wemby is.

Today? Yes all of em over Wemby. Maybe you could make a case for Wemby over Yao. Games aren't played in a vacuum. Give me the guys who have won early in their careers IN ADDITION to showing us all things we never thought possible

His skill is being the tallest dude on the court on defense and taking advantage of the least coordinated position in the league(slow footed big men) on offense. Not sure that counts as the all time best basketball player.

At least we can say Wilt was triple teamed by the part time players in the 60s.
The Greatest of All Time debate in basketball is essentially who has the greatest basketball resume of the player who has the best highlights instead of who is the best player
