I thought I'd peruse one of these video games I've heard about. Just thought that was notable.

The bulls are a team more than the sum of their parts or howver u say that because their chemistry. A video game obviosly cant capture that but might also behind on how good some of the yonger bulls are playing. Giddy waa looked as a bust a year ago but he finished strong but i dont think everyone trusts his new level of play yet

Are the Lakers a 99 overall again like they were when Westbrook was on the team?

It is 2025, sports video games should definitely capture chemistry or at least try. Thing is, sports video games only focus on casino micro transaction modes, its a lost cause genre of games.

Anyway, I still do not believe this Bulls team is good, its been 4 games, Phoenix started 4-0 last year too, it is been less than two weeks and people want to ride victory laps already.

Team rating is an arbitrary number that's weighed by the offensive and defensive abilities of the available players on that roster. If anything it's good that the Bulls calculate as the weakest roster but are winning.

If I buy nba 2k, i do not play a game for like 3 months, I just spend that time rebuilding roster from ground up. I do not like their inflated ovr ratings, but I also think that roster editors do really bad job rating some players.

I also, only play single player mode. I atill play 2k24, naybe I will pick up game next year, hoping in 3 years they make any improvements to single player modes, which is still not given. Sports games nowadays is basically just a scam.

I just want them to improve their physics. Pro-play is promising but they nerfed the hell out of step backs "hop jumpers" because they classify them same as fades. And "most" moving shots in the league are hop jumpers not fall away 3s.

FWIW I simulated the 25-26 season when 2K26 came out and Bulls won the championship with their current roster lol.

Overall ratings are weighed in such weird ways, it's funny how a lot of people think team/player rating calculations mean something (end up being all people care about when talking about the video game). 2K player ratings are tailored in a way to make their game work, not as some ranking system. weird stats like "intangibles" that doesn't effect the players performance in any way but changes their overall already makes the ratings worthless.

But yeah you're smart for not shelling out money every year on the game. I play the same way you do sort of. I like fantasy drafting the league on to different teams.

Well and of course that's the thing:

Winning basketball is about team play and synergy, but not only would that be very hard to include well in the game, it's probably not even what gamers really want because they themselves don't understand team play and synergy.

I can't help but note what a shift it is for the Bulls to be more than the sum of their parts because they were so focused on being less than the sum of their parts for years.

Whatever happened to DeRozan & LaVine? Oh, right....

Yeah unfortunately it'll never be properly captured, even in "simulation" basketball games. They've tried in the past, but now have pivoted away from making the team 5v5 gameplay realistic in lieu for fasted paced streetball gameplay that caters to their MyCareer mode. That mode keeps getting people to spend money on their virtual currency. I used to see gradual improvements on making the game feel realistic, but for the past 5 games or so they've stopped advancing.

I mean OVR rating should rank players, that is the point, but the balance is way off. 72 OVR guy can be star and 85 OVR guy can suck.

I said this before, but I believe they made intangibles skill just so they could adjust OVR rating, because that skill I do not believe does anthing, in game or in simulation, But it still impacts OVR rating, so when roster editor sets a player, if he feels OVR rating is too high or too low, he has intangible still to tweak OVR. Thats why that rating is so wack, I remember Rubio having one of the lowest intangible rating in a game, when it should be complete opposite if it worth anything, it is just completely random from player to player.

To me, I play these games for simulation immersion. WHen I was a kid, I had imaginary basketball league that I simmed on sheet of paper using dice, and I had imaginary players ect. Basically jsut nerd imaginary world but with sports. I love that stuff. But simulation is so bad in these games, I could write a book on what is wrong with NBA and FIFA, but thing is, most of their single player simulation features are either a lie and don't really work, or are broken. Like random example, they introduce draft and stash mechanic in like 2017 or smth, where players can be drafted but they do not come over right away. And players can be stashed for multiple years, but if they stashed for multiple years, after first year they just disappear, they cease to exist. ANd you would think, its a bug, they will patch it, right? No, not only they didn't patch it, they released like another 8 full price games with same bug, it just never got addressed. Anyone who actually plays that myleague or mygm league notices that, but 2k don't give a ***. And it is like that with everything, most thing are either broken, or don't really work, CPU teams actually have buyers, sellers, rebuilders tag, but they do not act like it, rebuilding teams with multiple rookies still always fires their coaches cause of bad record, they do not register that they are in rebuild and winnign is not priority. That feature is just a lie, it is same like intangible rating. Coaches have stats but it does not mean anything, the only meaningful thing in simulation that is meaningful is coach's rotation, I set Nick Nurse's at 8, and it is funny how hes the only coach who plays starters over 40 minutes per game... But simualtion does not even take garbage time into account, if team in simulation has 45 point lead after 3 quarters, they still play players the same minutes, bench players still do not get the chance. They have progressing stamina mechanic, but it is basically a lie too, unless you set training every day with zero rest days, you will never actually notice that your players are tired after back to back or anything, those are features they can put on a box, but it doesn't really work at all. CPU teams still do not sign second round draft picks, ever, meaning entire second round is meaningless. It is just a bug thats been for years and it never been adressed like all the others. In my freaking game, COACHES STILL WEAR SUITS, This is 2023 full price game, coaches don't wear suit for like 15 years now, but thye never even bothered updating that, they still wear those terribly textured out of date suits that look horrible for a modern game. I will just stop here cause I could be here for hours. I honestly do not care if graphics update, I just wish this stuff was updated and addressed, this is not even I want this, just fix your game breaking bug you piece of ***, you charge 80 bucks for this scam. I would just pirate their game, but they put anti cheat, it doesn't even get cracked anymore, but it constantly breaks after updates, so if you want to play this ****, you need to actually give them money.

The Bulls will end the season right around .500, maybe a few games over, possibly a few games under, really depends on if they do Bulls things and make a shortsighted win now move because they're sipping their own Kool aid...
