So...When Will Clippers Blow It Up?

Roster is old as hell.
- Brook Lopez is cooked. Just done as an NBA player. He had a nice career, but dude can't play anymore.
- Chris Paul is 40 and cooked.
- Bradley Beal is a complete shell of his former self.
- what does Bogdan Bogdanović do?
- Batum is 37 and cooked
- Khris Dunn...exists I guess?

And finally, their stars. Harden is 36 and can't carry a team anymore like he used to. Still good, just not THAT good anymore.
And Kawhi is 34 and getting older...and still the most unreliable player health wise. Zubac is literally the only good thing they have that's valuable asset wise aside from Harden and Kawhi.

So when is the breaking point? When do the Clips finally decide to burn it all down and start fresh?

They got to get rid of Ty Lue first. They will never go anywhere with him being in charge. One of the worst coaches in the NBA that got his career extended just cause Lebron carried him to a ring.

They have a great roster to blow it up IMO. They can’t get premium assets for any of Harden, Kawhi, Beal, etc. But they could trade all of those guys for a pick or two and get back a decent haul and start to rebuild properly. I’m sure a there are teams who would take on Harden and Kawhi for one decent pick who are on the cusp of contending who they hope those guys could just come be around come playoff time.

I don’t see this happening, but they should. And the sooner the better. With the easy wide open I’m positive a team would make a move for one of those guys if all it meant was a pick.

Change their coach first. They have a good roster with depth. Ty Lue just doesn't know what he's doing

The blow up happens when Pablo Torres' next video drops

Seriously though, it's when they give up on Kawhi. Everything gravitates around him being there, and the assets they do have like Zubac and Collins can be moved to teams who'd be willing to give up some picks. Zubac would get them a decent haul I'd reckon. If they commited to unloading Kawhi, Harden while they still have value, they could get get some picks for the next few years, since they don't own any out-right (few swaps) until 2030.

Clippers have three players on contract for 2027. They are not looking to sign or take on any big contracts unless it's a future building block.

The current goal is just have a team that can win games and do it's best to be competitive around James and Kawhi until the next phase of team building.

They aren't getting anything for Kawhi. He could be suspended an entire season.

What is the 1st round pick situation

Having no first round picks for the foreseeable future doesn't help plus we still don't know the outcome of their Kawhi/payments investigation.

Throwing a hail Mary and try acquire Ja Morant for unders on current market value is the only move they can reasonably do atm

It looks like they owe a pick to OKC in 2026, have a swap with OKC in 2027, Philly gets their 2028 pick, and 2029 pick is a swap with Philly.

Not good if they decide to rebuild.

No pick in 2026 (to OKC or Washington).
2027: Least favorable of OKC, DEN and their own pick (so they won't have their own pick).
2028: No pick (goes to Philly)

Looks very bleak.

Yep, this is a place holder team to sell tickets.

Clippers will blow it up WHEN Kawhi blows up his knee (so around Feb).

They honestly don’t have a good roster at all. They are a bunch of names that used to have value that were thrown together in smaller roles. For a team that not only acknowledged speed and athleticism was an issue but made team shirts of it then went and signed the oldest depth possible.

Lawerence Frank is a loser and the clips have been in purgatory overachieving with mediocre rosters and unreliable star availability for years.

Lopez/Batum/Paul/Bogi should all be end of bench extra rotation guys. The two semi younger additions in Beal and Collins are trying to find their roles and one of them is off and on injured. Not to mention both are seeking contracts they likely won’t get from the clippers. Leonard is hurt again and Harden is away for some reason. This team had little chance to anyone who knew regression sliders are a real thing.

Trying to sell tickets being old and slow is a choice. I’m not sure how an organization is going to sell the idea of building a contender when you haven’t shown the ability to recognize cheap young talent via draft or free agency. Maybe you can argue that Kawhi being unreliable health wise kept the team on a treadmill but the constant roster turnover and inability to hit any draft picks should scare any talent.

You have to clean house from the top and clear the stink. If they come just because it’s LA then it’s another wasted phase.

Good news for Philly. They have a better future than they should considering the terrible moves and bad luck they have had.

They're 2yrs 2 late betting on an injured tree planting Superstar to lead the franchise

What Dewey Cox dad say? The wrong kid died. They never should've traded SGA who showed he was clutch as a rookie in that one Playoff series but even though they did they just went nuts bringing in more and more guys while still banking on Kawhi.

Balmer fell for all that Kawhi is the next Jordan talk now he's paying for it.... Literally

Had they tanked earlier Silver may have made sure they got Wemby or Flagg
