I think its too soon to write off Beal with the Clips. So far though, even with minutes controlled for a bit off a health issue, not looking that good.

I know many of the Clippers fans have very high expectation on Beal raising their ceiling, but I wonder how many of you have seen him play last season. I know the Suns sucked and unwatchable last season and I'm not putting it on Beal, but he is part of the problem. He can barely move. He can't get by anyone, he can't get any separation against average POA defender, not enough lift to finish around the basket, and getting blown by over and over putting the defense in shamble. If he still relies on his athleticism to score, he is finished as a scorer. Unless he adapt his game, I don't see him getting much better. He may shot better, but the day he can carry an offense ala Norman Powell did last year when Kawhi is out of the lineup is long gone.

What has Beal ever delivered to ANY team he's been on to deserves to talk like this. Someone is polluting his mind.

I am not at all disagreeing with your assessment (I didn't watch him play last year.) I am curious though how he was still able to post a season line of FG%/3PT%/2PT% of 49.7/38.6/56.5 with his physical decline.

He's on the floor with 2 of the top 3 floor spacers in the NBA (Durant and Booker). Arguably no one in the entire NBA had a clearer path to the basket.

I dont have anything against Beal. We all knew what he was, how much he costed and his troublesome contract. And they still traded for him. So that's on the idiot Ishbia.


Still, did Beal really expect to be anything but a third option behind KD and Booker? If he did, he really is a delusional. And that's assuming he was healthy, which he never was.

I don't expect him to be an all-star type player night to night, but someone who can provide selective offensive creativity and some reliable spot up shooting. He won't be what Norm' was last season, most nights. Defensively, I don't think the difference is much to write home about either way. Norm's more of an athlete still on drives and rebounds, but nothing consistently elite.

Norm's play last season was special but wasn't sustainable + Clips with Kawhi in the line-up, heading into this season; as most of Norm's strong play was when Kawhi was still out. Norm' still played decently 2nd half of season, but wasn't the same after he came back from his knee injury in early Feb. + fitting back into the team with Kawhi. Norm' still had his moments, but his impact wasn't the same overall. Long-term, even if Norm' didn't get hurt, his impact was going to be lessened.

Beal for part of the MLE to replace Norman Powell at the stage of their careers, is a bit of gamble due to Beal's injury history, and is now at the end of his prime -- but I think its not a bad option to overall replace what Powell's role historically was on the Clips.

For me, jury is still out on Beal with the Clips, and is going to take some time for his effectiveness to be established.

He could have some value to a team on a low contract... as a small guard who can shoot but doesn't defend. He was an absolute dead weight anchor on a huge max deal.

Small guards who can score, but don't defend just aren't that valuable anymore. Other teams hunt them and expose their weak defense.
