I apologise to Luka Doncic and his fans, I know they are missing Kyrie Irving, but i never truly realised how much of a carry job Luka did with the Mavs until now (and he is right now a top 2 favourite along with SGA for MVP in my opinion)

Kidd's hamfisted approach to coaching and not playing Cooper Flag in his correct position is really coming home to roost.

I don’t think they are deliberately tanking either, which is the worst part. They are as bad as what Dirk is saying.

As I say, there is nothing drastically wrong with the Mavs that a new coach and competent GM cannot fix

I remember when they calculated that he had to average over 36ppg triple double for Mavs to stay competitive, not to win, but to even stay in the game to have a chance to win. They had so many injury problems over the years, even GLeague guys were inserted in the starting lineups for periods of time.

It is really fascinating how Nico built perfect team around Luka just to trade him months after they made the finals. Yeah, with Kyrie it would be different story, but I do not believe Kyrie as offensive engine can win you a championship, and AD's nickname is street clothes for a reason, Nico just lost his damn mind there.

Even wirh Kyrie out, and sadly AD only able to play one game in three (or so it seems), The Mavs still have plenty of good offensive players and rebounding bigs not to be this bad/especially offensively impotent.

There still is most of the season left for Kidd to turn the Mavs around, but as I say, if Dallas continues this utterly insipid and unwatchabe style of hoops much longer, Kidd won't survive Christmas

Kyrie always been combo guard IMO, but they could use combo guard right now, most of their minutes are filled by guys who are finishers not creators.

I'm a big Luka stan but I still think it's the worst trade in history, that being said, I did not think they would be this bad when the season started but I should have foreseen it as AD can't be depended on and the chances that Flagg would be ready to carry the team in any meaningful way as a rookie were very slim.

I'm still baffled how you could mess up such a perfect situation with Luka who was not disgruntled and loved being in Dallas.

I'd kill to have a generational talent in Toronto who wanted to be here in his prime.

People will give too much credit to Luka here. You could put in any superstar on this team and they improve right away. The problem has been having no poinguard and no big men. The season started with a extreme amount of turnovers because the wing players were out of sync. The team has fixed that now it seems like. The problem lately has been that there is no Davis, no Lively and Gafford has not being Killing like he has done before. The Mavs was going to run a new offense though the big men this season, but it has not been working because there is no healthy big men. It is just a mess. On top of that the team got very little perimeter shooting.

There is no doubt that this team would do much better with Luka, but they would also do much better with Kyrie, Davis, Giannis, Brunson etc. Anyone who can create plays or run a offense.

Except for the Luka trade, Harrison has been pretty good at making adjustments to the team needs like getting rid of KP, getting a efficent playmaker in Irving, getting energy and hustle with PJ and Gaffoed, drafting a perfect big man for Luka, like Lively. We will most likely see some trade happening if there is no improvement.

It looks extra bad because Luka woke up when he got traded. Like you saw how fat he was when he landed in LA. Harrison saw that he would never win championship with a fat 60games a season 70mill super max contract Luka. But now Luka has woken up because of that and is super motivated. Like LA-Luka would never been traded.

What do you want him to do? Kidd at 50 is probably the Mav's second best option at PG

If they are going to be terrible, which they are, may as well expose Flagg to the pressures of playing as a PG, People got hyped with him being drafted, but I dont think anyone thought the Mavs would be top 4, If they did, Thats on them

They finally hit a good mix in 2023-2024 with two guys who could legit pressure the rim and be a lob threat, Got an absolutely ELITE role player in Jones Jr, Took the gamble on PJ who bought in and was playing hard, and they got absolutely close.

They were one real player away from being right with Boston, Like if they could turn Morris/Green into a legit dude who could play 10-15MPG in the 2/3/4 spot they are winning 1/2 more games

But as the quote from the owner said

In general Nico has made a lot of bad moves as the GM, They refused to go higher then 4-55 on Brunson the year he left, That was what Brunsons manager asked as well, Not the Dallas offer, Dallas said 55m was too much

Traded Grimes for Martin (Wow who needs a PG right now???)
KP wasnt exactly lighting the world on fire but was a very **** trade with Washington
Bringing in Williams where they immediately turned him into a negitive asset
Picking Naji over Jones Jr (insane ****)
Signing McGee and offering him a starting role when Luka wanted a lob Threat, about 10 years too late

Yeah agreed. I also think they have enough defense and firepower on offense to make it work, but it somehow just doesn't click right now. I was never a fan of Kidd like most people were, he's showing incredible incompetence without Kyrie and Luka to run the show. I'm afraid he'll even cost Flagg ROY.

How about the Grant Williams signing??...and let's not forget that the only reason he went for Gafford and PJ is because Kuzma said no to the trade to Dallas...imagine how bad that would have been,,sending one or two firsts for Kuzma

Maybe Lindsey was more important than we realise,and maybe he was actually the mastermind behind those trades

Seems like Nico has that Jerry Krause complex...he thinks FO wins championships
