In the first episode of the tenth season of the basketball program ''Udenszeļļi'', information has been revealed that Latvia got its first person under the leadership of the National Basketball Association (NBA) club –, former journalist Reinis Lācis has become a scout of the Philadelphia ''76ers' club.
The 31-year-old Lācis was Latvia's leading basketball journalist for many years, working on the portal ''Delfi.lv'', as well as on his blog ''Lamarmatic.com''. Also, Reinis Lācis has created programs and publications for Latvian Radio, the blog ''At The Hive'' of the NBA club Charlotte, one of the world's most popular basketball channels ''BALLBREAKDOWN'' and ''Basketnews.com'', as well as hosted various sports and basketball related programs, including ''Water oils''. In his podcast ''The Handle Podcast'', Lācis interviewed and talked with countless NBA stars, players and coaches of the last century.
Lācis also made a great contribution to Latvian basketball journalism with several research works, such as the first legionnaires in the Latvian Basketball League, studied the phenomenon of Rūjiena basketball and also analyzed the performance of the Latvian national team at the end of the games.
After his journalistic career, Lācis focused on basketball analytics, being the assistant general manager of ''Rīgas Zeļļu'', and also worked as a vice president in the European Youth Basketball League (EYBL).
Lācis has become the first Latvian to work under the leadership of an NBA club.
