this guy is trying to say jason kidd doesn't deserve to be an all-star?

the article is too long to quote anything out of and you don't need insider to view it anyway.

is he talking about the same jason kid who is 1.1 rebound away from averaging a triple double?

It's not that crazy. Calderon is having a great season. Kidd is scoring 11 points on 37% shooting. I wonder if there has ever been an All Star guard with worse stats.

Because raw FG% and PPG are all that we need to take into account when measuring whether or not someone should be an All-Star...

I never said it was, but it's not something you brush off just because he's almost averaging a triple double. Those stats are pretty terrible. Rebounding and defense are the only things Kidd is a lot better at. I didn't say Kidd didn't deserve to be an All Star, but it's not like Shaq over Howard or anything.

he doesnt have terrible overall stats, just a low fg %

the Nets lost tonight, but they've been hot otherwise..if they keep it up, then 1 of Kidd, Jefferson or Carter deserves to be on it..

I don't see a better PG in the East than Kidd.

Hollinger is huge on PER, obviously, seeing as how he's the one who created the statistic. The guy values level of efficiency over all else basically. With that being said. Calderon is one of the most efficient guys in the league. He makes smart decisions with the basketball and is on a winning team. That's mainly Hollinger's thinking behind it.

The Nets and the Raptors are both at 17-17 right now.

The Nets are not a winning team right now and are barely in the playoffs. Kidd has the lowest PPG and FG% of his career while averaging more TO's than he has over the past 4 yrs.

The only Net who deserves to be an All-Star is Jefferson. Jason Kidd will start though because the average Joe fan doesn't know how he has regressed this year and will vote him based on his known name.

BTW, there is already a thread discussing this.

So one team at .500 is a winning team and the other isn't?

^ I didn't say any team at .500 was a winning team.

But you can't use that to knock Kidd when the Raptors are in the exact same situation. Calderon isn't on a winning team either.

Yeah, my bad...Still, I don't see why Calderon should be there instead of Kidd.

Seriously? Billups is playing at a much higher level than Kidd this season, he isn't flashy but he is a better offensive and defensive player. The only thing Kidd has on Billups is rebounding.

How about passing? Thats kind of a big deal for a point guard....

I never said Calderon is an All-Star, I simply stated that Kidd shouldn't be an All-Star this year if you base your vote on production. The only Net imo, who should be an All-Star this year is Jefferson.

All of this is moot anyway, since Kidd will be voted in as a starter by the fans.

Perhaps, but Detroit, as a team, averages more assists per game than New Jersey. Chauncey passes to his teammates, but in return, his teammates pass the ball as well. Who besides Kidd, on New Jersey, passes the ball regularly?

Chauncey also doesn't pass up all of his own shots. He does however, handle the ball more efficiently than Kidd. He averages less apg, but he also averages less to per game and runs the best offense per 100 possessions in the NBA. New Jersey is 26th in offensive rating in the NBA.
