I'm starting to think Phil doesn't like Bynum very much...

Post#1 » by One of Shemps Kids » Thu Jan 10, 2008 4:56 pm

...He just doesn't. Todays newest wiretap says that Phil thinks Bynum is showing improvement just to get paid. Then Phil calls him a p*ssy. Then there are clips of Phil making fun of Bynum on the sideline with that "queer hand movement" joke he made to all his assistant coaches. There's many more, i'm sure of that. But...why?

I'll just help out the bipolar raptor fans and let you in on the true answer:

*Drumroll*

Phil Jackson wants Chris Bosh

/rant

In all seriousness, it's either he doesn't like Bynum at all or is just getting on his case to motivate his arse more

Surely this was a legitimate point by Phil?

Phil is simply trying to push and motivate a very good, albiet young, player. He wants Bynum to reach his full potential and knows this can only happen if he continues to push him to work hard and improve. Pop did the same thing to Tony Parker, it's a commonality in major league sports for HOF coaches to call out young players in attempts to encourage them to work harder.

phil usually has a point to push when saying 'wacky' things like this...but this time i can't see it...he's got a young player who's playing at a very high intensity with good results. whats he got to gain this time?

This is standard Phil button-pushing. And I might not even call it that.

If you've followed him on even a casual basis, you'd know that he's said much, much harsher things than this. This isn't even a blip on the radar, especially when compared to Kobe's "ship-his-ass-out" rant this summer.

Just a matter-of-fact explanation for Bynum's improvement. So to summarize: Yawn.

the implication that he will stop working hard once he gets a large, gauranteed contract.

Phil has downplayed everything Bynum has done in his career, because really, the bottom line is he hasn't done anything. He is just trying to keep Andrew grounded. Phil has been doing this forever, not just with Bynum. It's not personal, but I can see how an outsider might think so.

Oh yeah, that picture of Bynum and Kobe on the front page made me lol

Who picks the front page pictures anyway? They always seem to pick the most awkward pictures

Javaris Crittiton (Lakers rookie whom played with Dwight in HS) shows why Phil does this. In regards to motivating the players he had to take two different approaches. For Dwight hed tell him "C'mon Dwight, you have to go out and just dunk on them. No Mercy." motiviated him to play meaner. For Bynum, he is motivated by doubt/challenges. Critt would tell him "No you can't dunk on that guy. Not a chance" and such and he responds to that. He's very Kobesque iin the way that he is motivated by adversity and negativity.

I definitely can't disagree with that..we've seen proof of Kobe doing something, even when someone tells him he can't..
