Raptors guard T.J. Ford was cleared to resume workouts Wednesday after visiting a spine specialist in Cleveland.

It isn't immediately known when Ford, injured last month during a game at Atlanta, will begin working out again. There is also no timetable for his return to the Raptors.

"The prognosis is looking good for a full recovery and a return to basketball," Raptors director of media relations Jim LaBumbard said after Toronto beat Philadelphia on Wednesday night.

I'm a big TJ supporter, and that's why I think he should never play again. He has spinal stinosis, he's had serious falls at least 3 times, and the next time something like this happens it could mean paralysis or even.....death.

Congrats to TJ!

I love his game he plays fierce and agressive. He reminds me of Tony Parker and he makes games interesting with sheer might and determination. I believe he will win a championship throughout his NBA career.

Sigh, he has an equal chance of killing himself as every player does. EVERY SINGLE PLAYER in the NBA has a chance of being paralyzed and killing themself each game, its just a risk they take.

TJ's condition gives him stingers through his whole body. TJ's condition does not give him an increased chance of being paralyzed, he has the exact same chance of any other NBA player.

Now I am a Milwaukee and Toronto fan myself. But I really hate when Milwaukee fans make threads like these because deep down they want TJ to retire so they can say they got the better end of the TJ-CV Trade. I am sorry but thats just the way I see it. EVERY Milwaukee fan I see wants TJ to retire, yet most other people say he should play on.

You can't say Ford doesn't have a greater chance than most if not all current NBA players of having life altering injuries as a result of his condition (and the way he plays the game). I'm not a Milwaukee or a Toronto fan and as an Atlanta fan I would hate for his career to end in a game against us, but at this point it's probably for the best.

Doctors cleared him to play. They wouldn't do that if he could easily be killed or paralysed.

The guy got his head pulled back by Horford, and fell on his head on the court. If his spine is fine after that freak fall then it looks like he can take a hit fine. If any player in the NBA had a player grab there head at the top of their flight and fall on their head they'd be out for a while. The hosipital released him, and he was at a Raps game the next night. Don't see why he should retire if he and the docs think he's good to go.

I do not want to sound rude or anything, but you are completley wrong.

TJ's condition gives him stingers, do you even know what a stinger is? It has nothing to do with him being paralyzed.

Tomorrow Josh Smith could land on his neck and be paralyzed for ever. EVERYBODY HAS A RISK!!!! TJ does not have an increased risk at all, he has the SAME amount of risk as every other NBA player.

Infact, after TJ's surgery his spine is actually more durable and stronger, so if anything he has less chance to be paralyzed.

I didn't mention him being paralyzed anywhere in my post, but do you think being paralyzed is the only thing that affects athletes after their careers are done? TJ Ford has a greater chance at a life altering injury.

What kind of life altering injury is TJ at greater risk of then others if you're not talking about paralysis?

What other life altering injury is there apart from being paralyzed lol?

TJ has more of a chance if for no other reason because he goes to the hoop a lot with such a frail body.

I really wonder how many other players would've been carried off in a stretcher if Al Horford committed that foul on someone else.

Oh puhlease... can we be happy for the guy that he's getting back to what he does better than anything else in this world. He was born to ball and he is willing to take the risk. Plus he has the clearance to return from multiple renowned specialists in this field.

Whether he has a statistically better chance of paralysing himself than others is unclear but the risk must be minimal if all these specialists have cleared him.

It's good that he's all right but come on TJ, hang 'em up.

EDIT#2: Even though I'm hoping I'm a Raps fan I gotta say that Netsforce sig is damned funny. I still have hope for Bargs but no one can deny he sucks at rebounding right now.

He does have a higher risk of getting paralyzed. The guys spinal column is narrower than your typical person. Therefore it doesn't take as much of a impact for his spinal cord to come in contact with his spine. Just because he is cleared to play doesn't mean the risk still isn't there.

I'm not going to say whether his chances of paralasys are any more/less than the average human but I find it kinda suspect that even though he's been cleared by everyone he's consulted opposing fans are still saying he should quit "for his own good".

I'm not implying at all that Basketball is more important than his health but we all risk our health to some degree everyday. Some people take more risk than others.... I guess its possible that TJ is risking his health a bit more than other NBA'ers but it must not be that much more of a risk or he never would have been cleared by so many doctors that know about this kind of thing.

Perhaps Netsforce is more knowledgable than these specialists. Really.
