Pretty Crazy! They should just play their scheduled game FIRST.. then play that OT make up game!

That way.. Both teams legs would be somewhat tired..

Just my thoughts

WTF!

How are they going to do that?

Edit:

The NBA today granted a game protest filed by the Miami Heat after its 117-111 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on December 19 at Philips Arena, which will result in the replay of the final 51.9 seconds of the game

I think that's BS. There's a ton of factors a team loses a game. What about if the refs call 30 BS fouls? Should that be looked at? Happens every game. What about when a ref makes an obvious error like calls a goaltending when it wasn't and the team loses by 1 point?

Losing = Winning for the Heat, so they're going to replay the game just to lose again? I don't see the logic in that. Obtaining Derrick Rose is the goal, so why make it a harder one to accomplish?

The refs called 36 PFs against the Hawks that game too. The Heat are the last team that should complain about officiating. That being said, our scoreboard operators are a disgrace to scoreboard operating.

They filed a grievance over the number of fouls Shaq had, not the fouls in general.

Shaq actually had 5, the foul that was not his, was still assigned to him, and the Heat announcers made mention of this the moment he fouled out, but the scorers table could do nothing with it.

The NBA screwed up, and they adhered to their error. So be it.

This wasn't the refs making a mistake though, this was the Atlanta statisticians screwing up, even when they were corrected by the Miami television station, who had statisticians of their own. They disregarded Miami's people, then after the game corrected themselves.

It was a one point game at the time. Throwing out a player who didn't deserve to be thrown based on crappy stat keepers is a very real reason to protest. In spite of that fact though, I have never seen anything like this.

I honestly don't know how I feel about it...

Heat didnt lose that game because they didnt have shaq, shaq would have sat out most of that time anyway (so the hawks dont foul him on offence)

This is dumb, should have just been a fine, I think David Stern was grossly negligent Tim Donaghy case and with the whole ref not being allowed to gamble (when we later found out that they all do) so what happens to Stern. Another move by the nba that clearly humiliates themselves.

That's ridiculous. I mean, the reasoning makes sense, but it's insane.

If you intentionally foul a player under 2 mins, you not only put him on the line for 2 FTs, his team gets possession there after.

Why would Atlanta be so stupid to do that?

"with 51.9 seconds remaining in overtime"

Well yeah, it wasn't a ref, but what I'm saying is what if the ref makes such an obvious mistake as well and costs a team a couple points. It's not the scorekeeper took points off the total. He actually helped the Heat by getting Shaq out of there, who would've just bricked 2 free throws. It's lame and NBA shouldn't embarrass themselves with it.

plus the daddy shooting 50% from the line also helps our case. You should know that.

20 bucks Shaq fouls out two seconds into the replay of the overtime. Hell, 50 bucks Riley doesn't even sub him in. Matta fact, 100 bucks O'neal is injured that night and can't even play.

I wonder how this is going to affect those who bet on the game.

Good.
I wonder how often points are incorrectly tabbed? and what would happen if evidence came out that team A should have been awarded a three pointer in the third quarter and lost by a point in the end?

I don't think the Raptors even got an apology when the Hawks' staff screwed them on points.
