ATLANTA -- Atlanta Hawks center Jason Collier died early Saturday after he had trouble breathing and was stricken in his home, his father said. He was 28.

General manager Billy Knight said the cause of death was not immediately clear for the 7-foot, 260-pound player. He said Collier had "no issues" in a preseason physical given to all players.

You don't know what you're talking about.

You are thinking of Jonathan Bender who retired because of bad knee's. He didn't die, he just never amounted to anything, had terrific size and athleticism though.

I remember him doing really well in the preseason. I thought he was going to end up like Jermaine O'Neal. Doc Rivers even said that Bender reminded him a lot of Tracy Mcgrady. He could have had an amazing career if injuries didn't force him into early retirement. I hope Livingston doesn't follow in Bender's path.

he was really talented, but just never went anywhere with all those injuries. what a depressing way to go. i read an article about him and how hard he tried to get past the injuries, but it just ravaged his life.

but he played in the nba, and made a lot of money, so you can't feel too bad for him. not many people can make it that far. i heard he lives near new orleans, so hopefully he's liven it up. he gave it up while still young, so it must have been really hard for him.
