So, what's up with him? Was he completely stupid to pass up guaranteed money and can't get a contract? Or is he just sitting at home saying "I'm not playing for anything less than I think I'm worth"

I dont know, you would have to think some team could use him, The cavs should offer him vet min to come off the bench and shoot the lights out
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

I dont think he will play for the vet min. and he isnt worth anything more than it.

His best asset is his offense, but for evey game he gets you back into with his scoring, he will shoot you out of with his horrid shot selection. Add to that the fact you are 4 on 5 defensively, and his days are done in the nBA.

It's quite sad he opt out of guaranteed money to now without a job,i doubt he'll accept the vet minimum just to play for a season and then go look for a long term deal again. His days in the nba is possibly over.

Sad? He could take a minimum deal for how much money? A million? I wouldn't call that sad. Arrogant? Stupid? Those sound like better words... If there is money on the table, and he is walking away from it because he 'deserves' more, then I have no sympathy.
I think he could be a useful shooter off the bench for some teams, and at least would have entertainment value for those teams out of contention...

To me, it seems the solution is pretty simple. He has to be on a team that also has a more controlled option at PG. Bring him in and if/when he starts shooting teams out of games, bench him.

Utah would have known sooner, and might have done something about it.
