Radical Idea so crazy it could work
In the playoffs, teams play opposite conferences! Ex. #1 BOS vs. #8 GS if the playoffs started today. Detroit vs. Portland etc. They will switch teams into 2 brackets at the start.
What this does is balance the league. The east is bad this year, so teams like Boston might be getting it easy in the season while the spurs have it tough. Well boston will have it in the playoffs while sa gets an easy team to play.

The idea is not crazy in the sense that this is how play-off brackets are made in a lot of other leagues in both basketball and other sports. The idea is exactly to not give any team an advantage due to a weaker group/pool/conference.
But I am not so sure if the idea would work well in the NBA. It would definitely make the play-offs more balanced and teams that deserve it more would more likely get deeper into the play-offs.
However, the first thing that comes to mind is that it would mean traveling back and forth between the east and west coast for the teams. It would probably result in a longer season.
But the thought is not at all crazy.
