And in Sacramento as well? Aren't these two places big basketball markets?

Hm that's strange. I mean their teams are bad but those guys are die hards.

I knew Indiana was on the decline after the brawl and this was the reason they traded away alot of their players for "white" players, but things have gotten worse. Maybe that brawl had too big of an impact on the fans.

The team didnt lived up to their expectations last year...*cough*Mussleman*cough* But I expect the attendance will go up(Prolly consecutive sellouts) if we going to have a BIG run this last half of the season....

Indiana only cares about the Hoosiers, and Kings fans only show up when they're playing well.

Being a resident of Indiana, I can safely say that high school basketball has been pretty damned competitive lately and has probably drawn casual fans away from the Pacers...I mean, in recent years, we've gotten to see players like Eric Gordon, Josh McRoberts, Greg Oden, Mike Conley, and even other kids like Rodney Carney in recent years for $4 a person.

Plus, add in that a lot of fans find it hard to support the Pacers after the past couple of years and are looking for a great reason to support them going forward.

The Pacers are currently going through what the Blazers had to go through around 03-06.

Ever since Reggie retired, the numbers have been going down (2005 to present).

For exception of this season...We had the longest active sellout streak in the NBA of 360+....(Including the 33-49 season, we sold ALL 82 games....so...)

Didn't you guys make the playoffs before that 33-49? That's why you guys still soldout..playoffs = more season tix or in your guys' case, renewal of season tix.

Still got some loud fans even with the low attendance numbers, so w/e.

Yeah, that could be the reason....But regardless, we still love our Kings.... Our crowd could be loud as a sellout even though we are not selling out...That's the beauty of Arco Arena...

Because when Mike Dunleavy is your leading scorer, you're not exactly going to draw a lot of fans to your games.

We love him here, the problem is we are so tired of Tinsley we don't even wanna watch it on TV let alone pay to watch them.

Fans don't connect with these players like they did with the blue-collar Pacer teams of the 90's with good defense, savvy vets like Mark Jackson and Dale Davis, and Reggie's heroics. Plus, the Colts have become the eye of the town and stolen thunder.

yeah i've wondered about kings attendance too, it seems like such a huge dropoff for just 1 offseason. did the maloofs raise ticket prices by 40% or something?

we need an economic model, dammit!

Not quite, but IIRC the Kings still have some of the most expensive prices in the NBA. In addition to that Arco is just pretty damn small and there were some justified doubts about the success of the team prior to the season (hence only few season ticket holders). All that adds up to relatively poor attendence. With a new arena and an improved team (all fingers crossed) this should change, I don't think another sell out streak would be out of the question.
