this may have been discussed before, but do u think this young team can develop into a power who wins multiple championships in the future? assuming the core players stick together, u have budding superstars in brandon roy, oden, and aldridge... good young role players in outlaw, webster and jack.. a great young coach.. a good gm, and a rich owner... and i hear portland used to go nuts for the blazers before the jail blazers era, so the fans will be there... and i dont know where to find darius miles contract, but once he gets off the books i beleive that will free up decent cap space so they can keep the core guys and build around them... are the blazers next?

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic but yes they can.

Ya, he's being sarcastic since someone always brings that up whenever there is a thread on the General Board about the Blazers future.

As far as the question at hand, who knows. Too many questionmarks with this team right now to anoint them as the next great NBA dynasty. That said, the Blazers are certainly off to a very nice start.

I definitely think so. Imagine this team with Oden in the lineup next year. They'll be deadly in they years to come.

 Roy, Oden, Alridge superstars? haha don't make me laugh. Roy is the only one that has shown star potential. LA at this point is only a legit starting calibur PF. Oden has yet step on an "NBA" court. But they do have a solid collections of players and the foundation is their. All they need to do is develop these "talents" and bring in some vets. Hopefully Rudy Fernanedez and Petterio Koppen w/e his name develops well over in Europe. They are on the right path to becoming a successful franchise and they'll be making some noise in the Western Conference

I don't think Dynasty, but they could win some championships down the road if everything goes well.

Injuries happen, players come in to the league that change out looks.

They haven't even made the playoffs yet...

It's tempted to predict all of these great things for the Blazers but first of all it's unlikely that they are able to keep all of their young players and second of all... Everyone is just imagining a world where the Blazers are going to be some superpower in the next few years as their young players mature without taking into account that OTHER TEAMS HAVE YOUNG PLAYERS TOO so realistically speaking a whole combination of things could occur which could prevent the Blazers from even making a NBA Finals let alone become a dynasty.

It's just too early to make bold statements like the Blazers will be a dynasty or the Blazers will win a couple championships.

See what I mean?

I always get a kick outta this when someone brings up the "They'll never be able to keep them all!". Yet, no one wants to acknowledge the fact that the Blazers have one of the richest men in the world as their owner and that the CBA makes it very easy for Portland to resign any of the young players they want.

Oh yeah I forgot Paul Allen he's just going to spend whatever it takes to keep all of the Blazers "amazing" young talents, cap management doesn't mean anything in the NBA.

i'm gonna wait till oden actually plays a game
to show that he isn't going to be the next great center
before i say no portland isn't building a dynasty

In one summer, Paul Allen gave Randolph a near max contract, Darius Miles a contract around 50 mil and Theo Ratliff a 33 mil extension. He handed out nearly 150 million in contract extensions in the summer of 2004 to 3 players. While that clearly not the "wisest" investment in hindsight (understatement of the century), the man will spend money to keep talent. That is a prove fact. He has no problem going into the luxury tax to win a championship.

The only people who worry/think Portland will have a hard time keeping all their young talent are people who don't follow the team and don't really know Paul Allen.

At the very least they will be annual contenders.

Predicting if a team will win ONE championship is hard enough. Predicting a dynasty? That's a little ridiculous.

But obviously it comes down to Greg Oden. It depends on how much of his potential he lives up to. Because the scary thing about their future is that their only weakness is what he's supposed to bring: A low post presence
