If the Suns somehow landed 'Sheed...

could they finally get to the finals and win?

I was thinking about who could really help them and 'Sheed seems like a terrific fit. He'd help greatly with interior defense (esp. post d), can give them another offensive option down low, he can help out on the boards, he adds toughness, can step out and hit the 3...

It's not all that realistic but still, I was trying to come up with a non-star who can generally help out in a lot of areas they are deficient in while still being able to fit in with Suns' style of play.

'Sheed seems right. Whatcha think?

Stoudemire
Sheed
Marion
Hill
Nash

Maybe. But Hill and Marion would be playing out of position, and you can't bring Hill off the bench, so it might be clustered.

They'd win the close games because of Sheed, but he would disrupt their offense by chucking threes left and right in this green light offense.

What the f*** are you talking about, Bell would still start as a SG.

Sheed/Skinner
Amare/Diaw
Marion/Hill
Bell/Barbosa
Nash/Banks

This would be the best team in the league. The Suns defense would be much better with Sheed and by moving Amare and Marion to PF/SF.

^and the Pistons would be the best team in the league if they added Marion.
But landing a player implies trading for said player.

So they are going to get him for Strawberry, Marks and a future second?

i don't see anyone accounting for what they would have to give up to get this guy...it's probably not going to be worth it in the end...unless it's fillers..

They would win the title. Sheed shoots a lot of 3's, not at all. He only shoots them when he is wide open. Other then that when hes on the perimeter hes passes it. Doesnt force 3's when hes covered.

well, you're right on not accounting for what they'd give up. so say it was a marion for sheed and hayes trade.

sheed/skinner
amare/diaw
hill/hayes
bell/barbosa
nash/banks

or if detroit was smoking crack...a diaw/piatkowski for sheed trade.

sheed/skinner
amare/diaq
marion/hill
bell/barbosa
nash/banks

the latter would have to be a favorite to win...the former...not so much.

I think adding Sheed would make any of the top 3 WC teams instant favorites.

i think adding sheed to the spurs makes them a lock actually

I think they'd significantly increase their chances to do what they want to do... beat the Spurs or Dallas (the more recent Dallas, not the 2005 less developed, on-the-fly-Avery-Johnson-influenced Dallas), get to the finals, win the championship.

Lock to or most likely do all those? Absolutely not. That's not fair to some other teams in the league.

Get noticably more balanced, and skilled on both ends. Tougher.

But mental emotional toughness would still be unproven, and adding Sheed you get a mixed bag with that. He can get better and more fired up with the techs and poor calls, or it gets to him too much.

Steve Nash would still be defended effectively eventually though, by Dallas or San Antonio. They've done it in the past, and would do it again. Not sure there'd be enough to make up for that over a series. Would just have to see.

But, getting Sheed isn't that realistic, at best for Phoenix.

Rasheed already said that he doesn't like playing Center and he stated that while playing for the Pistons.

Imagine if the Spurs got him, they'd probably be able to keep one team under 50 points for a game! lol. A front line of Bowen, Duncan and Sheed would be flat out scary to drive against.

If you trade Marion for Rasheed you dont gain any defense. I think this would only make the Suns better if they traded Amare for Rasheed. They would have 3 very good defenders and solid rebounding.

Suns already proved they can get far without Amare and if you trade him for Rasheed perhaps Diaw will go back to his 2005/2006 version. Then again they didnt wanna trade Amare for Garnett so this deal wont happen either.

wait how did they get sheed
for nothing?
they'd be considerably better without losing someone

you have to give something to get something
