My All-Star Picks

Post#1 » by eathy » Thu Jan 17, 2008 6:57 am

This is assuming that the last all-star ballot votes stay the same.

My All Star Picks:
EAST:
C - Dwight Howard
F - Kevin Garnett
F - Lebron James
G - Dwayne Wade
G - Jason Kidd
Bench:
F - Paul Pierce
F - Caron Butler
G - Chauncey Billups
C - Chris Bosh
G - Joe Johnson
G - Ray Allen
F - Antawn Jamison
Notable Snubs: Richard Jefferson, Vince Carter, Andre Igoudala, Michael Redd, Shaquille O' Neal (backup center)

Chris Bosh will HOPEFULLY be voted in by the coaches as the center, as there aren't any centers in the East Conference worthy enough of All-Star selection. Shaq is not exactly a 'snub' but if they're going to vote for a true center then the best they can get is Shaq.

WEST:
C - Yao Ming
F - Tim Duncan
F - Carmelo Anthony
G - Kobe Bryant
G - Tracy McGrady
Bench:
G - Chris Paul
G - Steve Nash
G - Allen Iverson
F - Dirk Nowitzki
G - Baron Davis
F - Carlos Boozer
C - Amare Stoudemire
Notable Snubs: Brandon Roy, Stephen Jackson, Deron Williams, Josh Howard, Manu Ginobilli, Marcus Camby (back up center)

Baron Davis will probably get voted in over Brandon Roy by the coaches.
Start voting for Iverson in the All-Star ballot because T-Mac does not deserve to be apart of the all-star game this year. AI is the closest player to T-Mac in the all-star ballot votes.

I agree.

Look at Ray's numbers.

Rip Hamilton is more deserving to be the 2nd AS for the Pistons than Ray is to be the 3rd AS for the Celtics.

Hamilton is scoring more, and shooting better FG% and 3pt%.

I actually just voted for the first time, heh

East

PG - Jason Kidd
SG - Richard Hamilton
SF - LeBron James
PF - Kevin Garnett
C - Dwight Howard

West

PG - Chris Paul
SG - Kobe Bryant
SF - Josh Howard
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Yao Ming

Write-in: John Salmons

Josh Howard won't be starting, but I voted for him because he's on a better team, is a better overall player than Carmelo, and is one of my favorite players. I really enjoy Carmelo's power and scoring game, and athleticism, but just like Howard more with his diverse game.

Al Jefferson should be on the 'notable snubs' list if he doesnt make the team.
Dudes got the second most Double doubles this season, is playing amazingly well, and although the wolves have only won 5 games, Dwade and Shaq both have legitimate chances of making it (dwade is a lock to get in), while only having won 3 more games than the wolves.

You've seen what Gerald "Crash" Wallace has been doing this season.

Right?

For the East...I would replace Ray Allen with Gerald Wallace and include Josh Smith as a Snub

For the West...
I agree with your picks... I think Roy deserves to make it just because POR deserves someone to represent their team for what they've done so far. I hope Tmac doesn't play in the all star game... Even if he was healthy... I wouldn't have put him on the team. I hope Roy can take his place.

Bosh isn't a center. So not sure how he'd be a center on the team. He's on the ballot as a forward.

It doesn't matter what the ballot says when ur choosing backups and while Bosh is a PF... the center spot is so weak that ur gonna have to push Bosh over to C and Jamison to PF to get the most talent team possible.

I'd start Billups for the east. He is having a better season than Kidd on a much better team. Joe Johnson has had a down season thus far, Smith has been a better player in many of our games which is unfortunate because we really need Joe's scoring. I have trouble putting him on there unless he really busts out in the next few games.

The coaches don't have to pick someone listed as a "C" on the ballot as their center. Bosh is really a PF/C, 82 games.com has him playing 77% of his minutes as a center. The Raps run him at C, with Moon / Humphries at the PF lot of the time.

hes finished? i wouldnt say finished as a player. a smaller role on a team where he doesnt need to be "the man" any more, yes, but finished? far from it

Mine, disregarding the fan vote. I will put one legitimate (as in, their playing style fits the position their team starts and plays them the majority of the time at) PG, SG, SF, PF, C on the team and then the next 7 best players (factoring in team success). Of course, if there's a tiebreaker I will give it to the more *exciting* player.
Here goes:
Chauncey Billups/Jason Kidd
Michael Redd/Gerald Wallace
Lebron James/Caron Butler/Paul Pierce
Kevin Garnett/Josh Smith/Antawn Jamison
Dwight Howard/Chris Bosh
Looks about right. Vince Carter could make a case for himself, as well.

the starters are probably going to be like they were in the last vote count..

so
PG Kidd
SG Wade
SF Lebron
PF KG
C Howard

IMO, the reserves should look like this..

F Pierce
C Bosh
F Butler
G Billups
G Hamilton
F G.Wallace
F Jamison

the East bench was difficult to pick..Pierce, Bosh, Butler and Billups should be locks for the reserves..I picked Rip, because I couldn't think of anybody that deserved it more..Allen came to mind, but the Pistons should have a 2nd all-star, and Rip has played slightly better this year anyways..

Jamison is having a good season, and add in the fact that the Wizards have played much better then exected with Gilbert out, and it wasn't a difficult pick..Gerald Wallace is having a good season, but Charlotte hasn't been good for the whole year..they've picked it up in the last few weeks though, so he might be a lock if they continue playing well by the all-star break, and sneak into the playoffs..

I wanted to put Calderon, since I think he definitely deserves a mention..the numbers he's putting up as a starter have been great, especially on a good team in the East, that have been dealt some injuries to key players(TJ)..

PG Kobe
SG McGrady
SF Melo
PF Timmy
C Yao

McGrady doesn't deserve a spot on the entire team, but that's what the fans want..

reserves IMO..

G Nash
F Dirk
G Paul
G Baron
G Roy
F Boozer
C Amare

this is what it looks like IMO..Paul, Nash and Baron are locks, so I couldn't put Iverson or Deron Williams on it, since that would be too many guards..Roy will definitely make it IMO everyone has noticed Portland, and he's their leader..Dirk will make it as usual..they team needs bigs, so Boozer and Amare will both make it..

I agree with your picks besides Ray Allen. Allen has played like a borderline starter this year. Gerald Wallace should take his place on the team.
