Are you kidding me? Right now, Bynum is still only learning on how to create his own shot, and can barely even do that. He's got a variety of moves that he can perform well in practice, but has yet to even display them in the real game.

Kobe/Fishers/Farmars Lobs/Passes are creating easy layups/dunks/alley oops for Bynum and is the reason he has been so successful so early at a young age. Right now, He is not even the go-to man. Kobe is the go-to man who is taking those 22+ shots a night and attracting double and even triple teams, which then opens the floor up for Bynum and his easy lay-ups/dunks. This is due to KOBE BRYANT, and is definitely a case of making his team mates around him better, therefore means he deserves the tag of MVP for the Lakers.

Give Bynum a few more years, when he can create his own shot at ALL TIMES on a CONSISTENT basis before you label this young kid the MVP on the Lakers when that title deservedly goes to the best player in the League and one of the greatest players of all time, Kobe Bryant.

Your hate for Bryant is too obvious B-Scott, it's so pathetic you'll do anything to bash Kobe on the general boards so that you can sound "Neutral" or "Unbiased & Fair" to the opposing fans of other teams. It's fools gold, you're nothing more than a hater, and you're absolutely not a true fan of the P&G.

That wasn't really directed at you, but you have to admit that there are many 'Lakers' fans who are really just Kobe fanboys, and would root for whichever team Kobe played on.

Funny, since I strongly suspect that we have higher ratio of longtime fans to Kobe-first fans than Miami as to Wade-first fans.

Plus, they refuse to give Bynum, PJ or any other Laker credit for whenever the Lakers having success. In other words, Kobe is God.

Nonsense. Actually recently we're being permanently accused of overrating Bynum (what is another mild nonsense, but it's another matter). It's just haters like you who find every reason to criticize us equally good, may it be praising Kobe or Bynum, so any attempt of rational dialogue here would be waste of time.

The dropoff from Bynum to Kwame is Equal to the dropoff from Kobe to Sasha if not more.

Nonsense. Make a poll about that and you will be ridiculed not only by Laker fans.

At least Sasha contributes on the offensive end when Kobe is out.

Sometimes - just like Kwame on the defensive end.

Bynum provides the Lakers high percentage offense and he was a big impact on the defensive end.

Now without him they are back to shooting a lot of contested jumpers, struggling to score, and they have no prescence on D inside the paint.

C Bynum
PF Lamar
SF Luke
SG Sasha
PG Fisher or Farmar

This squad is better then

Kwame, Lamar, Luke, Kobe, Fisher or Farmar

If your anti-Kobe vendetta lead you to truly believing that, I pity you. May I also remind you that Kwame/Lamar/Luke/Kobe/Smush (!) lineup last season went 26-13 before injuries striked? Also you didn't answer my argument about how your faulty logic would lead to declare Vareajo MVP of the Cavs.

Paging B-Scott. Do you still think Bynum is the MVP after Kobe's performance last night?

This girl always disappears after Kobe plays well.

Bynum is the GOAT. Not to knock Kobe though, he is second.

all time:

1. Bynum
2. Kobe
3. Jordan
4. Wilt
5. Kareem
6. Magic
7. Vujacic
8. West
9. Worthy
10. Derek Fisher

B-Scott wrote:From a impact standpoint.

1.High Percentage shooting - He shoots 62% from the field

2. Rebounding

3. Defense - The Laker perimiter players are able to play more aggressive out on the perimiter and take more chances because they know they have a shot blocker inside the paint.

4. In the post, teammates are open because of him weather its a guy slashing to the basket and Bynum finds him or Fisher spotting up for 3.

With Bynum in the lineup, the Lakers are a much more efficient offensive team that gets high percentage, quality shot attempts.

Now they are back to relying on long distance jump shots

This is an Excellent question and I agree with a lot of it. Bynum is clearly the reason the Lakers are better than expected.

^^^ Doesn't mean he is the MVP. Only an idiot would believe Bynum is the MVP over Kobe right now.

I'm not going to bother reading this thread but anyone who thinks Bynum is the MVP of the Lakers is an absolute idiot. With Kobe and without Bynum the Lakers are still a relatively legit team threatening for one of the bottom slots in the playoffs. With Bynum and without Kobe and Lakers are destined for one of the top 5 slots in the lottery. END OF STORY.

Pretty good analysis although this year the Lakers MIGHT be a mid pack playoff team with Kobe and without Bynum.

This is coming from the same guy who thought Smush Parker was a good player for the Lakers purely based off stats. Stats aren't a true indication of everything buddy. Kobe attracts the attention, the double and the triple teams, Kobe is the MAN on the Lakers, these are the things that don't show up on the stat sheet. Bynum is good and has a great great future, but right now he is riding off Kobe's success. Bynum can't even create his own shot yet, and if he can't even do that then there is no way that this is an "excellent question" as you claim it to be.

Bynum's improvement may be why the Lakers have improved, but let's not forget the foundation and who is the best player on the Lakers and who is the reason why he is improving.
