Worst *Franchise* Players?

Post#1 » by JurassicJake » Sat Jan 19, 2008 4:13 am

Who do you think are the worst "franchise" players? I would have to say Andre Iguodola is the worst. I am not saying he is a bad player by any means, but I don't think he is a cornerstone player. To me, he is more of a sidekick a la Pippen. Also Emeka Okafor is one of the worst, but only because he is constantly injured and hasn't played up to his abilities, but that's not his fault (the injuries part).

Definitely Emeka Okafor...looking back, it's funny to think people thought he would be better than Dwight Howard. I remember people saying Orlando would regret the pick...

I love the Knicks, but I am not a homer. We have no player who can be even considered a franchise player.

it was true... I thought he was going to be better than Dwight Howard. Thank good we got Dwight Howard, because our team would be mediocre. If Charlotte got Dwight, wow. You talking about a championship contender.

 lets not get carried away with a championship contender having Crash at the 4 and Felton at the 2 there.

They'd certainly be alot better.

I think this is more just pointing out teams that don't have franchise players then saying there bad ones.

Because lets face it the level that AI2 and Okafor are on we really shouldn't be looking for a way to call them bad.

There just not #1 guys. But they are good #2s great 3s type people.

It really depends on how much they get paid...well mostly. Not all teams have a big time franchise player...the kings, knicks, bobcats and clippers dont really have one. When i think franchise player its a young stud who they can build around for years and is actually a good player.

Emeka okafor wouldnt count as a franchise player to me since he isnt that great...hes a building block, but not a franchise.

Elton brand isnt really the franchise player...i just dont think anyone can be the clippers franchise player.

Durant is still a rookie, I don't think he's been in the league long enough to be considered one of "worst" big time players..he's still developing.

I abide by my own theory that there are exactly 30 franchise players in the league. Some have two. Usually, they are contenders. Others are still looking for one. They are likely perennial doormats.
It's not necessarily the 30 best players, either:
1) Chris Paul 2) Kobe Bryant 3) Kevin Garnett 4) Lebron James 5) Baron Davis 6) Amare Stoudemire 7) Dwyane Wade 8) Dirk Nowitzki 9) Steve Nash 10) Gilbert Arenas 11) Jason Kidd 12) Deron Williams 13) Yao Ming 14) Tracy McGrady 15) Tim Duncan 16) Chris Bosh 17) Paul Pierce 18) Al Jefferson 19) Allen Iverson 20) Carmelo Anthony 21) Dwight Howard 22) Kevin Durant 23) Caron Butler 24) Vince Carter 25) Carlos Boozer 26) Pau Gasol 27) Michael Redd 28) Chauncey Billups 29) Joe Johnson 30) Josh Howard?

More or less.
