Will the Celtics win the championship this year?

Are they #1 favourites? Is this the most stacked team on paper in the entire league? What you guys think. I would love to see how the celtics would stack up to the pistons, spurs, in the playoffs.

i think this is the C's yr, if everyone stays healthy u can book it.
great D, have 3 go to guys in crunch time...if they can shore up a backup for rondo, you would have to say they are the faves....
peace

to say they will definitely win a championship this year, is foolish
are they a front runner, of course
i think everyone knows this by this point in the season though...

Im still waiting for the Celtics to beat the Spurs, Suns, Mavericks, and Hornets.... Oh yeah and they still havent beat LeBron.
They are a great team yes, but they havent been tested a whole lot yet. I expect quite a few more losses to pile up still. There schedule is finally starting to get difficult, so we'll find out a lot about them in the coming weeks.

Ok since I got the whole NO thing out, lemme explain. Most of the time when teams win championships, they have been together for at least 2 years or so. Secondly, they have no real good depth in case of injury, so if someone gets hurt in the playoffs IMO they are done, game over man. So say KG gets hurt, who is their inside prescence? I hardly think Glen Davis could carry them in the paint, and Kendrick Perkins is a nobody when it comes to low post scoring. Or even Pierce, now you got no slashers. Or even Allen, now your best perimeter shooter is Eddie House. They are just too fragile.

While the Celtics have surprised me with their fast start, I want to see how they do against better competition in the 2nd half.
From the beginning of the season it concerned me that Rivers was playing the big three 40 mpg. Now Allen and Pierce are over 38mpg and Garnett is over 35mpg. IMO Garnett is the only one who should be close to 40mpg and the other two should be much closer (or in Allen's case, under) to 30mpg. Injuries have to be a serious concern for this squad, because they really have no depth.
I don't fault Ainge for pulling the trigger on the Allen and Garnett trades. He had to. This team probably has a few years to win a chip or two. If I were a Celtic fan I'd be waiting on pins and needles for next summer. The Celts will have their MLE to play with and they may have a line of guys who want to be the PG, C, or 6th man on that team. Lots of vets will want to piggyback their way to a ring.
While I don't expect the Celtics to win it this year, I think next year will be their best chance. IMO the next couple of years will be a transition period from the last generation of powers to the next and the Celtics may be able to jump in the middle of it and win it all.

I'm going to say no, mainly because the best record in the league pretty much never wins the title, in fact doesn't even get to the Finals. In fact I see a TON of parallels between this team and the 06 Pistons

Rivers isn't a championship calibre coach. So no.

hasn't there been a thread like this just a few days or weeks ago?
taking that aside I don't think they're the favorites unless they win a few games vs the mavs or spurs

well I haven't seen them play the Suns, Mavs, Spurs etc. and I dont know if I can seem them holding the Pistons off if it comes down to them...not to mention the playoffs have a lot to do with coaching and team cohesiveness...I dont doubt the heart of the Celts, but the coaching aspect, I think people are really being fooled right now by Rivers, I almost feel like Stotts could have coached this team to the exact record...Just because I have first hand knowledge of Rivers...if I'm wrong, I'm wrong...it's too soon now...
ultimately, it's possible...if they dont face the Pistons in the ECF...

If they don't Rivers should be fired within 24 hours of their playoff exit.

Depends on who they aquire.
If they get Cassell then I'd back them to win it all.

The West is so tough this year that whoever the eventual West Champ is will probably be worn out, but BOS has to beat DET and CLE first...
