Why not an outdoor NBA game in a football stadium?

Suns are planning to play a preseason game outdoors, so why doesn't the NBA pay it's marque teams(LA, Boston, Detroit) who sell-out all the time and put them in football stadiums? Play at the Rose Bowl, BC Stadium, Ford Field? The publicity would be worthwhile.

A lot of fans enjoy the fact that they don't have to freeze their asses off to watch basketball. Since basketball is a winter sport, that could cause problems...

Why not just have them play at Rucker Park?

I see no reason why this couldn't work in August/September and in warmer cities in October, barring impermissable weather conditions.

I can see this happening in LA cuz it's warm and they'll sell enough tickets to fill up the stadium. But that's about it.
The rest is either too cold/snowy/rainy or they won't sell enough tickets because a stadium would look bad if it's not full.

imagine if they played in the all the old ballparks?? like Yankee stadium, wrigley, dodger etc. . . this would be one of the best things the NBA coulds do imo. it would sure as hell make preseason more exciting

Headline: Suns blame Stern for Pidgeon conspiracy. Suns would have won title if not for pre-season poop fiasco.

I'm pretty sure preseason doesn't start until October.
