he had the perfect situation in Toronto, his own franchise that was committed to building around him even during the tough times, huge popularity and fanbase. Even if he never ended up winning much with the Raptors he was destined for icon status not only in Toronto, but in all of Canada....

then of coarse, he didn't like the way things were going, gave up, demanded a trade, and threw away everything he had for a second chance in New Jersey...

now Vince is 30, his New Jersey nets are aging and falling apart, and Jason Kidd has just demanded a trade...meanwhile the Raptors are a young, up and coming team, led by one of the best bigs in the game(who by the way wasn't good enough for Vince). Now Vince is stranded, rotting in one of, if not the worse franchise in the NBA... but he couldn't possible quit again? could he? what would that to do his already damaged image? yeah, he's stuck

Ever heard of the butterfly effect? Toronto wouldn't be that good if Vince didn't leave.

im sorry but that statement is so moronic. The team that Carter left was mediocre at best, Alvin Williams along with Jerome Williams were horrible overpaid after that one playoff run. On the flipside the raptors fall after carters left lead to changes in management which is reflective of the current roster.

VC made the Raptors..sure they had an "all-star" in Antonio Davis(LOL) but that team was mediocre at best, and Carter led them to the semis, 1 shot away from making the conference finals..

the only reason anybody knew who the Raptors were was because of Vince Carter..even now, while they are a good team, they are always overlooked..that never happened in Carter's first few years in the NBA..

does anyone really think VC gives a **** anyways? he's a multi-millionaire, he'll be remembered forever..****, there have been about a 100 threads about him on RealGm this week alone..

while it's true that Carter leaving was the catalyst that pushed Babcock out the door and Colangelo in, you can't negate the fact that, had Carter and management waited it out another year or two, and had all the moves Babcock made, not linked to the Carter deal (like the Calderon signing, the drafting of Villanueva, et al), and the players progressed to the point they have now, Toronto would've been just as good as they are now, with more star power and notoriety around the league.

of course, this is one BIG hypothetical, and personally, i'm happy with the squad we have now.

This is definitely a case where numbers lie. Sure when you look at his stats he seems to be playing well but when you watch the game you can realize that he is just a shell of his former self. He never attacks the basket anymore and settles for jumpers, he often looks disinterested and he looks to be aging by the minute. Carter's days of being an elite swingman are over.

But I really don't understand why Carter is even talked about anymore. Who cares, most Raptor fans have moved on and it doesn't even matter anymore. Let New Jersey worry about getting rid of Carter now, we're better off without him.

Yeah I guess you can compare 2 finals appearances and 7 straight playoffs with those solid 20 win seasons babcock put together

the nets beat the raptors last year. he doesn't feel that bad.

I'm pretty confident he doesn't give a **** about Toronto franchise and isn't one day going to say gee I really wish I stuck around to do it on my own, get beat up a lot more, and fail.

He's had a good run with up till this year perhaps the best PGs in the NBA in Kidd.
