I don't get a chance to watch this guy.

But his stats lately have been insane.

40 and 19 tonight.

He's clearly the best player in Minnie, with very few other dependable offensive threats, but he really seems to be developing into a top PF.

From people who get to see him play often, how good is he? What's his ceiling? Or is this just an effect of having to be the scorer on a bad team?

He is really good, though, just trying to be harsh.

His defense is not great. However, he currently reminds me of a young Tim Duncan. And when I say young, I mean a rookie Timmy.

Now please don't think I'm comparing their talents and/or successes. With that said, if you watch his foot work, his post moves, and the fact that when he rebounds the ball, and scores around the basket, he keeps the ball up high. All are things that great big men do.

He's a special talent. And I do believe he's the type of guy that could put up excellent numbers on any kind of team that works their offense from the inside out.

A young high school guy that is getting better. Just like Bynum.

He's a 20/10 player on any team...


Been a VERYYYYYY long time since we saw a post player with his post moves, and skills.

thought he put up good numbers against warriors and Suns too

He's one of the best bigs in the league. His defense needs work, but his footwork and post moves is really in the upper echelon of post players. He's also a fantastic rebounder to boot.

like i have said before, he is on eof the best pf's in the nba...who cares if he plays for a bad team, he has my vote as an all-star

the guy could be a legitimate superstar within the next season or two, he just has been cursed with playing on terrible teams.

He's at that level where you're not quite sure if he's a franchise player, but that's because if he is it's because of his offense.

He's defense is not a game changer but an asset on that side of the court.

But offensively he has the capabilities to rise to the lower franchise tier like past 3 years Ray Allen level, umn.. you know guys that are no means LeBrons/Wades/D-12s but still All-stars.

And his offensive capabilites aren't shooting it's just flat out posting his man and getting the blue sky.

Also he makes his free throws even though he gets little of them because offensively his game is to make his defender a non factor. You can't even foul him because it'd be dumb to do so with him puting you on his back for layups or doing a half hook fade and you just have to stand there and watch it happen.

He's a 22 yr old 21ppg 12rpg PF.

Would love to see him in a Spurs uniform.

Definitely a good player, but as was mentioned earlier in the thread, he has played for Boston and Minnesota. Playing on awful teams can sometimes inflate stats as there is less emphasis on "team" basketball in the sense of winning games. He sure looks like he could be great, but until he plays on a team that has playoff aspirations you have to hold off on making any firm declarations about just how good he is.

You can break players down into three really general categories:

1 - The awful/mediocre/average player who really isn't anything special. They can range from the bench player who rarely plays to the guy who plays consistent minutes for a team. Every once and a while they may drop 20+ points but they won't average anywhere near that.

2 - The really good player/pseudo-star player who consistently puts up really good numbers but come crunch time or when the games matter more on the stretch to the playoffs, they can't elevate their game to the next level. They still put up decent numbers, but you don't see that little bit extra.

3 - The truly elite player who finds that next gear that leads to greatness.

It is unfair to say that he won't be the #3 type player, but right now he certainly looks like he will be at least a really solid #2.

He's a lot like Zach Randolph, all offense and no defense, a stat stuffer on a very bad team. Against good strong big bodied post defenders, Jefferson seems to shy away and refrains from his aggressive play this is a direct result of his lack of fleet-footedness and strength.
