As the decade comes to a close...

Well, its hard to believe but next coming season after this one will be the last NBA season of the 2000s in the Georgian calender.
Just wondering of how would you sum up this decade so far and how would the last 2 championships might change anything.
So far it seems like the decade was dominated by Shaq and Duncan led teams mostly. And surprise upset title by the Pistons.

Shaq and Duncan are clearly the top 2 players of this generation..I don't even see an argument for anybody else..Kobe can come into the equation if he wins a title or a few MVP's in the last years of the generation..
it's pretty crazy that Shaq and Duncan have been in every finals so far this generation..

TD and the Diesel obviously. Shaq gets extra credit for winning 3 in a row and being absolutely unstoppable but Duncan gets points for being the best defensive player of the generation and being the best player on 4 championship teams instead of Shaq's 3... although he was a major contributor to a fourth.
After that you have Garnett as the most well rounded and statistically dominant player, Iverson and Kidd as the floor generals who dragged their teams to finals, and Kobe as the top number 2 guy (possibly ever) and the best perimeter scorer of the generation. Nash, Wade, and Bron will be remembered for their accomplishments in this era too but since their combined dominance didn't start til 04' they don't really have the same clout.
Out of them all it looks like KG might have the best chance to put his mark on NBA's history.

both Shaq and Duncan have 4. Duncan has 3 in this century.
They need to have a show summerizing this decade next season. Hosted by Ahamad Rashard or some guy from the history channel. They should make a top 50 coutndown of the best moments.
Shaq and Duncan would be top stories. Along with:
- Jordan's return
- Kobe's 81
- Failure of an established "Next Jordan"
- Emergence of Dwyane Wade, Lebron James,Gilbert Arenas, Tracy MCgrady, Dwight Howard as cereal boxes representives of the league
- Early 00s - Lowest scoring seasons in history
- Mid to Late 00s - Highest scoring seasons in history
- Demise of the short shorts
- 4 Franchises changed cities (Vancouver, Charlotte, Seattle and New Jersey)
-1 New Franchise (Charlotte Bobcats)
- Dominance of the West
- Expanding of player marketing
- Higher attendance
- Deaths of Malik Sealy, Bobby Phills, Jason Collier and Eddie Griffin
- Death of Red Auerbach
- Scandals (Kobe rape case, Tim Dounaghy saga, Palace Brawl, etc)
- Underdog title by the Pistons and continued dominance thereafter
- Ray Allen breaking the All-time records in 3s in a seasons
- Kobe Bryant scores 2,800 points in a season and averages 35.6 PPG.
- Bad decades for Warriors, Hawks, Sonics...
- Finals rating down

Thats a good list... I don't think I'd have JO on any of those teams though. I'd probably switch him out for PP, Billups, or Wallace. Wade and Bron' definitely haven't had as long of a reign but its hard to argue with Bron's production and Wade's trophy.

Dwight Howard shouldn't be on the team..this year will be his 1st all-NBA team, and he hasn't accomplished anything other than that..give him a few years..
JO should be on it..Indiana was a great team for a few years, and Jermaine was even close to being the MVP at one point..
Ben Wallace would be on it instead of Howard IMO..all of those great Pistons teams, 1 championship, 4 DPOY's..

Did you honestly put Iverson over Kidd?

And Ben Wallence is severaly underrated. He has FOUR DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARDS.
