How good would Chris Paul + Lebron be?

Post#1 » by jzmagik » Wed Jan 30, 2008 11:52 pm

It's rare to see a star pg paired with a star sf, could these guys coexist? What star player would be better paired with Lebron if there is any?

Both need the ball in thier hands to be successful. they wouldnt mesh well together cause neither one's an good off-the-ball player. Still, put the correct role players around them and they'd still be in contention every year just because thier 2 incredible players.

I don't think that pair would be the greatest. Lebron needs the ball to be effective and so does Chris Paul. Lebron's assist numbers would drop way lower with Paul but he'd probably get more easy baskets and his PPG and percentages would rise. The best compliment for Lebron would be a big man who can dominate inside but is a good enough passer to help Lebron out in that regard.

dwight, yao, dirk etc etc. . if im the cavs i dont sell the farm for a pg, let lebron be the primary ballhandler and either have a beast down low or a stud on the outside, thats just me though

that would be amazing, but just think of lebron + dwight?

now that is incredible duo. since dwight doesnt need the ball to be effective and there both unstopable.

What do you mean this wouldnt be a great combo?

Great passer + Best finisher of all time = incredible combo

And how do you know LeBron doesnt do well off the ball? He's never had to play off the ball in his life, so to say he cant isnt true.

If you put LeBron on the Hornets, the Hornets would win the finals and if you put Paul on the Cavs, the Cavs would win the finals...I'm confident about that.

If you put a legit all star on the Cavs to be LeBron's running mate, the Cavs would win the finals. The Cavs have some good role players, but without that second star, its hard for them to beat elite teams with consistency. Paul would solve that. He can break people down off the dribble and he can pass...two things that no one on the Cavs can do outside of LeBron.

This would go down as one of the greatest duos of all time. They'd be like a Stockton and Malone, only with more athleticism and scoring ability.

LeBron and Paul would not work together for the obvious reasons. Paul is a pure PG, and LeBron likes to pretend he's a PG.

Paul and Dwight/Yao, however, would win title after title...

nobody said it wouldnt be great, just saying you wouldnt be utilizing both plyers as much as you can. sure, lebron might be a great guy without the ball in his hands, but why bother trying? hes already on track to be one of the greatest distributors of the ball from the 3. ever.

really??

and if we put kobe on the suns THEYD win the finals, we can go on all day here. if you put superstar X with superstar Y then yes, its a good chance theyll win the finals, but still, its never a sure thing, no matter WHO those 2 players are. you got 12 lacin em up, not 2.

While it doesn't really matter, because LeBron is definitely up there, Jordan is the best finisher of all time.

I had a Chris Paul + LeBron James + Dwight Howard trio on the Warriors in NBA Live 2008...it was spectacular.

They don't exactly complement each other, but don't even need the "right" type of players around them. Just look at the Cavs. They don't have anyone who complements LeBron and they still went to the Finals. You add Paul, and they're unstoppable.

What if we had like the west all stars on the same team together, how good would that be?

Its an interesting question. First off i thought hell yeah they would conencide perfectly, to great stars who are young and unselfish, what could go wrong?? But like most posters have stated, the ball dominance may become an issue. Who is the primary ball handler?? Sure Paul is your pg but LeBron is amazing with the ball in is hands.

Granted, as a previous poster rightfully pointed out, we hanvent seen LeBron play without the ball, so we have no precedent to set really. Thats why many could imagine a Dwight and Paul combination being so lethal as Dwight does need the ball to be dominant.

Im not saying it would work, but off all the young players out there with amazing games and futures ahead of them, LeBron and Chris could make it happen as they seem to be rather level headed, no ego driven and selfless players so its definatly possible

Was that with NBA rules, or with Argentina's rules? Anyway, they barely lost in 2006, destroyed everyone in 2007, and won't lose in 2008.
