Their has been a lot of speculation that Jason Kidd wants to return to Dallas, however the Mavs would have to part with either Jason Terry or Devin Harris or both and another player to acquire Jason Kidd.
With the way the west is improving should the Mavs make the trade for Jason Kidd?

Dallas really needs somekind of creator , i really doubt the isolationgame they play right now will get them a championship or anywhere near it . It's also quite painful to watch.

The question is what are the willing to give up ?
Thorns a very patient man and is aware of what it means if NJ trades Kidd , so he's nowhere near Gasol's price .

But i think they should do it Kidd is still very effective if you soround him with players who are better offensivly then he is .

If they can acquire Kidd without giving up Devin Harris/Josh Howard/Dirk Nowitzki, then yes, they should.

Sure, Kidd's brings what Dallas needs.

But the Nets are also in the playoff race. The Nets are terrible, but have won too many games in the terrible East, for ownership to just give up on the postseason, so one of the requirements is the Nets get back enough talent to still make the playoffs. On top of which the team still wants salary relief and picks too. For the price the Nets are demanding I don't think any trade can happen.

If they can acquire him w/o giving up Dirk, Howard or Harris, then yeah.

Terry won't do it for the Nets and trading Harris isn't worth it. So no, the Mavs shouldn't make the trade.

As a Rockets fan, yes Dallas should trade for Kidd if it means getting rid of Jason Terry. Jason Kidd is a great player, but I question how much of an improvement he'd be to a Dallas team that primarily plays an iso game...basically I'd have to see it to believe it. And if they gave up Jason Terry then they'd be losing their best 3 pt threat which I think could hurt Dallas a lot more than Kidd could help.

I don't think so...

Harris is just fine, they just need to put the ball in his hands more often and improve the production from their frontcourt, e.g. they need to upgrade over Dampier/Diop (one, not both), not their PG spot.

I think they should and will.
They just saw their championship window narrow a little with the Gasol trade.
Harris will be a part of the price they will have to pay to make it happen.

Dallas is still the second best team in the best IMO. They can beat anyone except for the Lakers.

Dallas is the second most efficient offense in the league right now so I think their system works fine. They are a top 10 defenisive rebounding team too so while Kidd would help in that department, its not like they are getting killed because of it. Dallas is hurting lately because their defense is 16th in the league and while Kidd has been a good defender in the past, he isn't as good as Harris today.

agreed..but I also believe Dallas needs some mentally tough players..I don't agree with everyone that blames their playoff losses on Dirk, but they still need someone to lead their team when it matters..2 years in a row with extremely bad playoff losses must bring some concern with the group of players they have..

Harris is not part of the problem for Dallas, so why trade him? An isolation offense can work if you have guys willing to drive and get to the rim. Where the Mavs get in trouble is when they turn into a pure jump shooting team (which usually happens when Harris doesn't play).

Harris doesn't get the big assist numbers, but per 100 possesions the Mavs score 10.3 more points when he is on the floor. That's making your teammates better.

Regardless of what we think, both Avery and Cuban have repeatedly said that Kidd isn't coming here. The Kidd to Dallas rumors are completely media created.

I completely agree. Dallas's offense works fine with the way it is and they would have to completely reconfigure it if they got Kidd.

Yea my thoughts exactly.. Definitely would not give up a young stud like Harris for an aging vet like Kidd, but if they can get it done without moving those 3 guys, then it'd probably be a real solid deal for them.
