Both teams did really well but for different reasons. The Lakers got a still-young big man who'll fit great and will propel that team either to multiple championships or something close. Kobe/Gasol is deadly, and then I heard Odom and Bynum aren't bad either. The Heat got a great talent in Marion while dumping the worst contract in the league, speeding up the process of getting back to respectability.

The Lakers are a juggernaut right now though, so they have to take it.

The Lakers got a young highly productive big man for Kwame Brown... The Heat gave up their only legitimate center and got back a talented yet bad chemistry player in Shawn Marion.

Both the Lakers and Heat were the respective winners of their trades but the Lakers trade was better by far.

Hmm interesting. Shaq cant play defence but I think he can intimidate bynum into sucking. Remember during the christmas game when bynum spun on shaq and dunked and started getting all rowdy. Shaq smacked the sh*t out of him the next play lol.

He just elbowed him like a hooligan.

And I'm sure Shaq will "intimidate" Gasol into 25/13.

There's 2 winners in these deals and they are the Lakers and Heat, Phoenix's end could pay off so we'll have to see, but there is 1 huge loser out of these trades and that's Memphis so Gasol for Kwame was a much bigger steal.

I'm aware of that, I was trying to make a point about how the Suns can't hang with the Lakers. Besides, I don't trust Amare to defend Gasol either.

I wouldn't even trust Amare with guarding Jason Collins.

Gasol EASILY. The Suns had to give up a key player to get Shaq. The Lakers gave up nothing but scrubs to get Gasol.

I gotta give this to riley the dude turned 20 mil bad contract and big fat chunk in to athletic allstar, 15 mil who expires. And helped the team out of gutter instantly, while managing to destroy a contender in west. Hell at least for Lakers memphis deal both benefited.

Lakers had the better trade. Their trade could put them in the finals. The best the heat will do from their trade is just miss the playoffs and get a worse draft pick

Great deal for the Heat. Shaq will get injured again and Phoenix will have nothing to show for Marion except an inflated payroll. I will take friendly bets about whether or not Shaq will get injured again or will have his time reduced while trying to heal from an injury. Any takers? The Gasol deal made the Lakers better and the Suns worse. Who the hell is going to guard Kobe now after Raja gets hurt or picks up a couple quick fouls? Who is going to guard Lamar now? Not a good look for the Suns. Who is going to finish on the break now except for Stoudamire? Bad deal for the Suns, bad bad deal.

No comparison. Gasol to the Lakers is much more of a steal than Shaq for Marion. Although it is not that clear, I would say that the Shaq deal may turn out to be pretty equal.
