What can a core of top5pick/Marion/Wade do in the East?

Heat are the worst team in the league and will probably get the 1# pick(if it doesnt end up like the Celtics). I say at least 7th seed.

With a PG upgrade and a bench, .500 should be doable.

It's really too hard to say and would depend on the pick's performance. Ala Bargs,Morrison, Cedric. Drafting is just too hard to predict for sure.

I wonder if MIA would draft a big though.

but you don't need to be in the east

I don't see why they should make any other moves considering they can have the modern equivalent of the 90's Bulls...Wade, Marion and Haslem is about as close as you can get to MJ, Pip and Ho...if they get Beasley, than they can move Haslem to find the perfect role players at center and point guard...if they don't get him, they can draft Batum, Greene or Gallinari to be the perfect 6th man ala Kukoc...

get a couple three point shooters at PG (Navarro & Duhon) to go along with Cook to fill the backcourt rotation...one of the three aforementioned rookies to play the Kukoc role if they don't get Beasley...a tough defensive minded bigman to offset Blount(Kurt Thomas) and a hustle bigman (Shavlik Randolph)...

Duhon/Navarro
Wade/Cook
Marion/Rookie
Haslem/Randolph
Thomas/Blount

that's a defensive minded team that can score and a legitimate contender in the east once Wade gets healthy...

All going to depend WHO we draft and if we can hit on that pick, and also the role players/bench players Riley supplies his team with, something he didn't do a good job of this season.

they should move their expirings(Davis,Williams) for a Artest or Maggette-type player and then theyd have a solid 4 player core to build around

Isn't Maggete a FA at the end of this season?

Yeah they should probuly move Williams and or Davis for some kind of underated big.

I mean at worse a Jason Williams for Drew Gooden or something.

They currently don't have a Center because I don't want to recognize M-blo as anything but a PF. But with Gooden and Haslem at least they'd have 2 rebounders.

Would they even re-sign Marion? They could go after someone like Brand in the market, but I don't remember if Marion is planning on opting out of his contract, it is $17 million.

Depends.

a core of Rose/Wade/Marion or Wade/Marion/Beasley could really do some damage. Throw them 3 with Wright, Cook, Haslem and they have a good supporting cast as well. Of course they need help at C, but i'm pretty confident Riles can figure something out.

2nd round exit, Will probably get eliminated by the Celtics and Pistons in the playoffs next year.

They could battle for the 8th seed.

So basically the 4 or 5 seed in the East.

Haha. 3 stars in Boston = greatest team of all time. 3 stars in Miami will be 8th seed or .500??

Anyway, to the guy who said get Artest. Doesn't he and Marion play the same position? No point in getting Artest now. We need a PG or a C now.

If Marion, Wade, and a top 5 pick would be that good than Marion and Wade should be good enough to prevent this team from getting a top 5 pick...

Also a top 5 pick doesn't mean anything. Is he going to have an Impact like Darko, Bagnani, etc? Is he going to be an project or immediate impact player?

Top 5 picks don't even start alot of the time if they're going to a playoff caliber team.
