New Pippen and Jodan? LMAO

Post#1 » by Triangle Theory » Thu Feb 7, 2008 10:40 pm

I was just watching PTI on th 4 lettrevil network ESPN, and heard Wilbon asking if Marion and Wade are the new Pippen and Jordan. If a nice draft pick is picked up by Miami due to this horrible season, Can you see these 2 great players developing into this type of dynamic tandom?

EDIT: Said by Riles.

Well Wade is the closest thing to Jordan I've seen (as in actually playing like young Jordan). I don't think Marion is within the point-forward mold though. But, Marion is pretty versatile. Just don't expect Marion to bring the ball up the floor and set up the offense. Marion can do almost everything else Pippen did though.

IDK how Marion can possibly play the Pippen role, when granted he can't run/set-up a team from its half court sets or play the role as Pippen did, and he's not even in the similar mold of a Pippen to begin with.

He can defend, rebound & score, but the rest is what made Pippen as valuable as he is.

If Marion can regain his AS form down here, and Miami finds way to hit on their pick(s), and we can sign the right FAs to compliment these 2, Miami should be back in the swing of things REAL quickly.

But, Marion can be Wade's 'Pippen', as in his sidekick.....

Bro, i love Wade, really do, but he is in no way closer of a replica to jordan than Kobe bro. On that thought, i do think he can pull of the tandom with marion bettter than Kobe and LO. Really do.

I said young Jordan. Not older Jordan. Young Jordan was the slasher / dunker / mid range type player. Older Jordan had the post game and deeper jump shot and fades.

Kobe is basically a carbon copy of older Jordan whereas Wade plays like younger Jordan, imo.

This isnt the first time Riley said this. In 2000 when Tmac/Hill played against Miami, he said "THEY WOULD BE BETTER THAN JORDAN/PIPPEN"

So he kinda throws that comparison around a lot...

Bro, just aswer the question, none of this younger jordan, older jordan ish. You gonna have a whole thread of people disecting different years of his career. The tandom. Focus on that.

Yeah right...I bet they keep losing games like its going out of style.

Wade is a great player, but he's not back to his old from, and maybe never will be.

Marion is good, but he's a role player. You cant give the ball to Shawn Marion and expect him to create offense for himself or others.

Marion's energy may help them win a few more games than they would have with Shaq, but this is not going to be Jordan and Pippen...not even close.

If Hill was not sidelined it might have been the case, possibly.

Not quite as good a combo. And not anywhere as good a supporting cast, or near future.

C'mon Cavs:

You really think that Wade will never come back and regain his form. Really? He's still really young. Bad season putting him down, i think they can pull out 28-30 wns this year.

As Jordan aged he changed his playstyle. There is a difference between younger and older Jordan's playstyles in terms of how he attacked and scored.

Wade's numbers are slightly down but despite that he is still top ten in two categories and top 15 in another while shooting 47% from the field at the moment. That is not remotely bad.

I freaking understnd that bro, i really do, just aswer the question, that is it. It's not about a 1-1 comparison to Jordan with Wade. It is a comparison on the power MARION AND WADE CAN bring compared to JORDAN AND PIPPEN, not the shots and drives they use to bring it? Do you get it?

He is not saying he IS MJ, no one will be, ever. He is saying that his style is SIMILAR to that of MJ's. And, that's safe to say, given all of these players looked up to MJ and tried to duplicate his moves, anytime they got the chance too.

So, most of these players, Kobe, LBJ, Wade, VC etc all have MJ-like moves in their games, but there far from MJ.....

Unless, Marion can start to create offense for himself and others, and a whole lot other things, he's not going to be Pippen anytime soon.

See last post. I understnd the 1-1 comparisons, its the combo of WADE and MARION that is in question, not how wade will get to the hoop. IMPACT. IMPACT.
