lol, every coach and GM in the NBA has got to believe that the Lakers got away with murder. I could understand how he feels though, I almost threw up when I found out the contents of the Gasol trade. Interesting idea with the trade committee, this isn't fantasy basketball where GM's can vote to veto trades though.

I think if a trade is blatantly obvious that one team is helping another (perhaps an under the table deal involving cash), then that would be looked upon by the NBA. But this deal made sense. Memphis don't need the trouble that Gasol was stirring, and the fans wanted him out (granted they're probably not happy with the result). Memphis needs to rebuild, hence removing a massive contract. It makes sense. Pop is being a punk.

I don't blame him for what he said. I think Wallace challenged people to speak publicly thinking no one actually would. It's nice to see some actually go on record and say what they really feel. I wonder if Stern will fine him.

Did the Grizz meet their criteria for trading Gasol?

If he wasnt being sarcastic then he is being very whiny. Part of the game is the salary cap, GM"s and trades. Its not MEM's obligation to consult with other GM's to make a deal.

Clearly, MEM was looking to clear cap , get a young piece and get pics. To make it more attractive for sale? Maybe. But that is nobody's business and people shouldnt have to apologize for it.

Did the Lakers get a sweet deal? Sure. But this is a democracy league this is ....get yours...league.

This is also a business that every player, coach and owner will recoginize.... I hope they dont forget that when they make these types of statements. ( and again , I hope he was being saracastic)

I was very surprised they didn't ask for at least Turiaf as a replacement big. Man makes no money. They definitely weren't searching for value.

I definitely agree our guys complain a lot..but so does the man in your sig, Kobe Bryant..he's definitely emerged into the top 3 in foul complaints this year..

this year? he's been a huge complainer forever. you're not even good at hating.

Colangelo made a similar trade in Phoenix when they moved Penny and Starbury for expirings/picks as they were trying to sell the team. Everyone crucified the Suns and said the Knicks got a steal. Then, the Suns used that cap space on Nash+Q and went on to be a solid playoff team.

If Memphis can turn the picks into one decent starter, have Critt develop and use the cap space in the next couple of years for a star - we all may look back on this deal in a similar light 3 years down the road.

I don't agree with popp speaking or about a trade committee, but let's be real....the Lakers got away with murder. It's not the Lakers fault, and any team could only wish to be so lucky.

If you're Memphis, at least demand Farmar instead of Critt, or get turiaf at least. This was cold-blooded murder and Wallace is a moron plain and simple.

It's his deadpan sense of humor.

turiaf is a FA this offseason, critt is under a rookie contract for longer than farmar and is more capable of playing sg. its not that hard to put two and two together.
