Late 80's Early 90's Or This Generation

My question is are teams between the years of 86 to 94 better then teams from 2000-2008.

Past Pros
- Hardworking/Care More
- Smarter, Maximize Talent

Present Pros
- More Athletic

My opinion: Teams in the past are overall better than today's teams. Mainly because how they view the game, and how they adapt to improving rather than the paycheck. Some players today would fit well in the past system, but the majority of them are leaning towards the next generation of basketball. The olympics is a good example.

Umm, no? This is one of the most foolish things I've ever seen written on these boards.

Josh is an efficient scorer NOW, he wouldn't do any better then, especially not once the Bad Boy Pistons and Riley's Knicks started playing their brand of defense. And 20 rebounds? Yeah right, he doesn't even get 10 a game now. And 10 blocks is just ridiculous.

You're completely off-base, here. Smith is a fine player but you're not only ignorant of the nature of the 90s but completely overvaluing Smith.

Back then was about fast break and playing closer to the basket. Now you can't do that easily and its leaning towards three point shoot out.

i think the past (80s-90s) has a lot more rivalries. definitive greats came out on that era (all at the same time) which i think is seriously lacking in todays game. yes, there are good players in today's game, but they lack the charisma of the players of old. granted that doesnt lend to the game, but player personalites do create legends if combined with actual skills. the game of the past definately had more swagger...i cant believe they call technical fouls on mutombo's finger wagging now.

The 80's were all about team play. Great passing and lots of offense. (until the Pistons came along) The 90's were about toughness and defense. Today's game is all about selfish chuckers who just want to get paid.
