How come McGrady is not in the all-star game?

I'm pretty sure he was second in votes for the West guards. He's not even on the reserves list.
EDIT: Let's not start a flame-war with thread titles - miller

He's not in the All Star game because he isn't an All Star.
The reason he got all the votes is because of the popularity of playing with Yao Ming, and the name recognition. Moreso the playing with Yao Ming part.
End of thread.

He didn't get second most votes. AI beat him. Then the coaches didn't pick him as a reserve.

Iverson passed him in the voting. Then he wasn't chosen as a reserve. Not that he cares -- he came out and said he'd give up his starting spot (if he had gotten it) to someone who deserved it more. TMac has been injured too much this season to be an All-Star

T-mac was not having an all-star season....Iverson beat him out for the spot by a little small margin...
he was not deserving...China vote played a big part

Cummon guys, I agree as much as anyone Tracy doesn't deserve to be an All Star this year, but he had started 7 consecutive games. For those with shorter memories, thats 4 years in a row before even coming to Houston.

He actually has to be on the court to be a nominee.

Mcgrady said he wouldn't play even if he was nominated. By NBA rules he HAS to play if he's able to. Unless you think AI miraculously picked up 100k votes in under a week (1/10th of his total vote total) and Mcgrady gained 0, the obvious conclusion is that the NBA modded the vote totals a bit in order to parlay any possible problems that could may of occurred.
McGrady is easily having an All-Star season. The only reason his stats are so skewed is because he left a bunch of games early - and he attempted to play through an injury for two weeks. The drop off in the box score is apparent during that stretch. He still isn't 100% now - and he's had the flu over the last couple of days which gave his stats another hit the last couple of games.
His production is like a roller coaster - a stretch of 10 games where he's healthy, another stretch where he's injured.. just constantly repeats.

It's weird how much everyone wants to dislike him even though he himself has acknowledged that he didn't deserve it this year. How many people would actually do that in the NBA these days? Oh, and he's still more talented than 95% of the league even with his lingering injuries.

Because every time he drives into the lane he gets hurt.

Pretty obvious that the NBA rigged the votes.

Yeah, I think the votes thing was a PR move more than anything. I doubt AI would have beaten mcwhiney in such a small time span.

Personally, I think your McGrady-esque topic on the Orlando board would be a much more worthwhile topic here.

So, you really don't know what team
Tmac played for, prior to his trade to Houston?
Ok, let me tell you. Tmac had played for the Magics for 4 seasons. And because the entire
Magics team was so
sucky, he had to look for a new home. His team mates in Orlando were not very competitive. Remember that
19-game losing streak by the Magics? Doc River deserved to be fired.
And yes, this is the response to the Magic fans who started this thread.
