Interesting decision. It had to be a f/c or else the East would have 0 backup centers on their bench.
It was either Sheed or Big Z, and I'm not sure they picked the right one.
Detroit has 2 All-Stars on the roster as it is. They're an excellent team, but the Cavs are right up there, too.
Ilgauskas is averaging more points and rebounds, is shooting nearly 5% better from the floor, nearly 7% more from the free throw line in one less minute per game.
Ilgauskas has the higher TS% and PER while Sheed shoots a slightly higher eFG%.
I guess where Wallace makes up for his lesser offensive contributions and rebounding is his defense where he's an elite post defender. Zydrunas as either average or slightly above average, depending on who you ask.
I would have taken Ilgauskas, but Wallace is a good selection too.

It would appear that, after Doc Rivers promotes Chris Bosh into the starting lineup, the Eastern *depth chart* would look like:
Kidd/Billups
Wade/Pierce/Hamilton/Johnson
James/Butler
Bosh/Jamison
Howard/Wallace

It makes sense position wise, but Hedo is having a better season.
Deserved, nonetheless.

Should have been Ilgauskas if they were going for a positional selection.

On the one hand there's always the potential for Sheed shenanigans during the break that will be good for a laugh.
On the other hand this could go to their heads like 06
*hopes the celtics go on a massive winning streak at the end of the season to keep them humble*

Not this season... stats are overrated but 12 points & 7 rebounds just don't cut it... he did NOT derserve it. Period.

Didn't Wallace even go so far as to say he did NOT want to be an All-Star this season, and that he just wanted a break to be with his family?

meh, they'll get cocky again and lose in the playoffs.

Sheed is a better player than Hedo and Big Z. He's probably mad that he has to go to allstar weekend again, Stern probably put Sheed in to spite him.

this year: hedo>>>>>sheed about deserving all-star team at forward spot...
