Anybody think the bobcats can pull off another upset if...

Post#1 » by LiquidFire » Mon Feb 11, 2008 7:32 am

Does anybody think that the bobcats can beat boston in the playoffs (8th seed vs 1st seed) like last years warriors and mavs series.

the bobcats are only a couple wins away from the 8th and they have a pretty solid lineup imo. if they can start winning and grab that 8th and boston maintains the 1st, can they do it?

boston beat the cats on one hell of a lucky ending, with the steal and prayer by ray.
then the cats come out on celts home court and give them a kick in the ass winning by 10

boston in a way is like last years mavs.. having a historic season.

idn. id love to see this matchup though.

gwall vs peirce
rich vs allen
okafor vs garnett

could be an interesting playoff picture once again if it works out this way.

what do you think?

I like Charlotte a lot. But they are 15 games under .500.

lol, no. I mean i like the Bobcats players, and i wish em well, but no I don't think they have a chance in hell of beating Boston, Detroit, or Orlando in the playoffs. Not even Cleveland.

The Bobcats match up pretty well and should be 2-0 vs the Celtics....but.....

they are in a tailspin and won't make the playoffs. I'd be surprised if they win 12 more games the rest of the year.

i hate the celtics but it won't happen unless there is some huge injury.

-the warriors had nellie who knew the mavs very well
-baron davis was injured for part of the regular season
-with davis back they went on a tear towards the end of the season to make the playoffs
-i think they've were beating the mavs for the last couple years.
-it was the west, less of a difference in talent between seeds
-warriors are extremely streaky and when they are on they can play with the best teams in the league

-the celtics this year have 3 superstar veterans who have gone deep into the playoffs
-bobcats don't have a player who can dominate like baron
-the bobcats are well under .500 and get to play against a much weaker east

i'm not saying it's impossible, but it's improbably that the bobcats will even make the playoffs, let alone be able to do anything against the celtics.

Where do people get off with comparing these current Celtics with last year mavs. There is no indication at all of the Celtics being a team that would choke in the 1st round of the playoffs we would have to wait until the playoffs to see. All year people have made references to last year mavs when talking about the Celtics as what happen to the Mavs is now the norm instead of a rarity. With all that being said what commonalities do they share besides the best record in a particular season to make the comparison valid.

Bobcats did beat the Celtics if i remember correctly, and almost beat them in another game. But playoffs will be a different story IMO.

Man that has nothing to do with why the Warriors won. Nellie beat the Mavs because he knows how to give ALL slow footed players problems, not just Dirk. It had nothing to do with Nellie knowing the Mavs, it was because he knows how to play against slow footed players.

But yeah I like how you mentioned our injury problems. We played with Mike Dunleavy Jr, Troy Murphy, Anthony Roberson etc. for the majority of the season. Baron Davis was out for 3 weeks (rehabbing from knee surgery), Jason Richardson was out for 2 months, Ike Diogu was out for 1 month.

We only played with a full healthy lineup for 21 games that season, and those 21 games was when we had the toughest remaining schedule in the league. We went 16-5 in those 21 games. I'm pretty sure we would have been a much higher seed had we not faced those injury problems that season.

Basically it was more of a 4-6th seed beating out an 8th seed. But even then, it would still be surprising since people always doubt the Warriors.

And yeah if Charlotte managed to be the 8th seed, I wouldn't be surprise if they pull off an upset. Nothing is guaranteed, it's not like the Boston Celtics are an invincible force in the league.
