Interesting first round matchups. I like the NOH and Cavs matchup!!

Those match ups look much, much more interesting than whatever the real ones will be.

no disrespect bro..but someone makes a thread about re-seeding and such every day, so we need to cut this out, don't we?..

it isn't happening, nor should it..you have to deal with your own conference, and anyone team that wants re-seeding is just admitting that they aren't good enough to compete in a tough conference..those are the cards you've been dealt, so do the best you can..

Damn, the Magic would be playing the Spurs in the first round.

Again, the East sucks.

who cares if its talked about everyday, its because its a good topic. Everyone talks about GOAT every day and i never get tired of it.

and yeah that 16 team playoff pic is awesome, but i a change would be drastic right now and im fine with it.

The difference in time zones, among many other reasons kills this idea.
Take for example the Detroit/Portland match up. Games would have to start at 6:00 PM in Portland and 9:00 in Detroit. It's far from an optimal starting time. A 9:00 start is probably going to have the game end at 11:30-11:45 at night. Not everyone is a high school/college kid that can either skip or sleep through their first class.
Many people have real lives/responsibilities that preclude them from staying up that late when they have to go to work the next morning.

The NBA would lose a lot in ratings with an east/west match up like that.
Not much you can do about that with the Finals if it happens, but that guarantees that it'll only happen one time.

And MLB is much more popular than the NBA. The NBA can't do things like the big boys (NFL, MLB) because it's simply not at that level.

In the NBA there are 15 playoff series while there are only 5 in MLB.
There's much more interest in baseball in part because of the fewer number of teams and a better chance to make it to the WS.

I think they should go by overall records............. but cut the Top 16 down to the Top 8.

Then, with less playoff games, they can spread them out more and provide more time for travel.

I think the real problem is scheduling for the regular season. To make it fair you'd have to play each team 2-3 times, but how do you decide who you play 2 times and who you play 3? And how many home games are against bad teams and how many road games are against good teams? But I think it is possible. I wouldn't say it would never happen, because it makes too much sense

True, a Pistons/Hawks series would get much better ratings nationally.


But sarcasm aside, take a counter example. Which series would get better ratings overall: Cleveland v. Washington or Cleveland v. NO? In the second example not only do you get better games but you also get a more accessible game time for most of the country.

Top 16 could only be feasible if the NBA went to a 2-3-2 format like they do in the finals for every round. And even then, it eliminates the purpose of conferences and divisions.

It's not a terrible idea, I just don't see it happening.

u might as well just have a 30 team league, no conferences, divisions,etc.

East vs. West thing makes it important to fare good against teams in your own conference...

i'm opposed to this idea...

The East will get better...Atlanta will be a lot better if they can get a real PG...good ownership

Raptors will be a powerhouse under colangelo in a couple of years

Miami will rise..D-Wade, marion and a top 5 pick..

the east will have some very strong teams in a year or two

Sun/Raps - who says the game has to slow down in the playoffs...get the running shoes out

2-3-2 is an interesting idea. Just seems that some East/West rivalries are never really made. How about Kobe vs. Lebron 2 years in a row in a playoff series.
