How much time do the Lakers have to win a title?

With the gasol deal, they are clearly one of the best teams in the West. But how much time do they actually have to win at least one championship? Anything less than a championship to them should be a huge disappointment.

5-7 IMO. Kobe is 29, but his conditioning is the best bar none. Andrew is 20, Gasol is 27 and Farmar is 21. A few other key players are Lamar 27, Sasha 22. Turiaf 24 and Ariza 22. pretty young core

They have plenty of time. Best case scenario: they win every year from now until Kobe gets 35. So that's about 6 years.
Gasol is 27
Lamar is 27
Bynum is 20
Kobe is 29
So that core is relatively young.
I'd say they have a 5-7 year window to win with the group they have now.

Well I was just talking about the roster they currently have. I doubt they'll be able to keep guys like Odom and Gasol for the rest of their careers. Kobe and Bynum are the only sure thing.

As much time as they want.
5-7 years, like said.

Only player over 30, is fish.
Kobe will stay on with club, longer than 2 years, i believe. Bynum is 21. Farmar is really young.
Wow.

As long as Kobe and Phil stays with them.

I don't get why they wouldn't be able to keep Gasol. Maybe not Gasol and Odom, but definitly Gasol. Then again, that all depends on how him a Bynum mesh.

If they don't extend Gasol then they can go for Lebron!

Buss will play the lux. tax as long as its for the right players and the team is contending.

The core of the Lakers is Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, and they can go for a good 7 years at a really high level. Odom is on a short leash, and I think he will get moved at some point over the next 2 years(likely for a PG to replace Fish), because Ariza, Luke, Vlad all fill the 3 spot.

With Bynum the franchise player at only 20 years old, the Lakers run will be guaranteed for at least another 17 years.

5-7 years sounds about right with the current group. Just alittle tweaking here or there to keep everyone from getting complacent.

Maybe. When we had Shaq he let the team deteriorate because he was a cheap ass. Let's not forget that Fisher, Fox, and Horry were the backups for our first championship.

Definetly 5 -7 year span assuming they keep their impact player's and Phil ...
I still think what they really need is time to gel ... i don't know if they can do that in time this year to such a good point to win the Chip but you never know ... if not this year than years to come should be their chance

I'd say 4-5 years.

I agree with 5-7 years. that's about as long as Kobe is expected to play for.
but since most of the core is still very young, once kobe is gone the Lakers should still be pretty competitive.
Gasol, Bynum, Farmar, Turiaf, Sasha, Ariza should all still be here. Shaw will probably be coaching at that time. Odom is probably going to be gone in 2 years time unless he agrees to re-sign to a smaller contract(7-8mil).
the present AND future looks good for the Lakers. they may not win the title this year though, but next season anything less than a championship is a disappointment.

When kobe's done it will be the Bynum and Farmar show a la Duncan and parker. We'll just need another player to fit into the dynasty. Maybe even an old and beat up Gasol could still play and contribute at the four. The franchise has a BRIGHT future for this and the next generation. It's pretty crazy how everything turned out.
